Hi,
Are there any specific packaging guidelines related to software that
has auto update functionality built in?
I am mainly interested in whether it's allowable to just disable this
at runtime (if the software allows it), or if it needs to be removed
at compile time.
I'd say any auto-update code that would try to overwrite what gets
installed with rpm should be removed. Fedora provides updates through
its repositories.
I thought we had a section about "downloaders" somewhere in the
Guidelines but I cannot find it at the moment.
