system-config-samba) and was able to do `smbclient -L` to my server.
I can list shares and `ls` within a share just fine from the command
line. The kde kio_slave for smb also works just fine, but that may be
totally seperate code.
What doesn't work is system-config-samba.

Are there any such tools I can try this out having to install all of
Gnome? I can see shares, and use them just fine from KDE.

or
2: you can always add shares to fstab, have a credentilas file,
and mount -cifs from cli.

Nautilus shows nothing in the "Network" place.
Attempting to go to location "smb://" or "smb:///" all resulted in
"Nautilus cannot handle 'smb' location" , but I am not familiar with
Nautilus, so I may be doing something wrong.

I think that this is a cyclic bug appearing sometimes during rawhide
cycle....cost of software updating, I guess :-) and also have you
tried to print on a Windows shared printer??? No Way

driver. But the job just starts, stalls, and never finishes. Reading
the hp website, I got the impression that printing to windows shared
printers was not supported.

no...I am running a F9 machine and same machine with F10 (i.e. an F9
with development updates and exactly same settings).I can print on a
HP1200 laserjet connected to a Windows XP machine (and I see shared
folder with F9).
This is the major bug preventing me to replace completely

Once you have any f10.rpm(s), stability is out the door.
You rawhide. fedora-updates-testing.repo, may have been a better way
to keep some stability, but could still be buggy.

Have installed system-config-samba same version, same error.
But on the client machine above rpm not really required,
more server config
On the client have you edited system-config-network
add under hosts ip and hostname of printer box. (which as printer is
shared?, should be staic ip (safer)).
From cli then service network restart, service NetworkManager restart or
from gui said services restart.

For a while on my F10 system every system-config-<whatever> I tried
aborted. It seemed like something was wrong with python (or some part
of python they all use). The most recent rawhide updates fixed it.

At the moment system-config-samba seems to be borked.
Appears to looking for a "b" rather than a "s" argument.
But unfortunately ##207887 doesn't give version or timestamps.
So it will be very hard to use\do anything with the bug.
