Hey all,
I had a few friends from abroad who are working on an
OpenStreetMaps-based project to act as an alternate to some of the
social features built into other proprietary maps platforms like Google
Maps. It is still an early beta phase, but they're hoping to get more
testers from a wide variety of areas to get a more broad range of
feedback to test the app.
You can read more in the forwarded message below, and you can also find
the website and GitHub repository (to file bugs / feature requests) as well:
http://cityzenapp.co/
https://github.com/CityZenApp/CityZen-Android
They're a very friendly community, and if you're someone who likes using
maps in creative ways, this is a pretty cool project that needs some
extra help in the testing phases. :)

Dear open source friends,
thank you once again for subscribing to the early beta testing list of
CityZen app. Please find below the link where you can download the APK
file needed to install the app:
*bit.ly/CityZenAppEarlyBetaAugust2017
<
http://bit.ly/CityZenAppEarlyBetaAugust2017>*
Some notes before proceeding:
* you will need to activate the 'allow installation of apps from
unknown sources' option in the settings section of your device. You
can find this option in different places based on your version of
Android operating system. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have
any questions.
* this version of the app is early beta testing, which means that you
have to expect many bugs. On the other hand the more bugs we all
find the better the official version of the app will be right :)
* CityZen is created with privacy in mind and we do not track your
location or personal data, unless you have logged in with your OSM
account. Even in this case only OSM knows your location not the app
itself. However we have added some code from a proprietary platform
called Fabric <
https://www.fabric.io>, which shows us crash reports
and potential bugs in the app. This version with Fabric installed
will be used in the early beta version, but not when we launch
CityZen through Fdroid.
* If you have an OpenStreetMap account feel free to log in and edit or
add information to OpenStreetMap. Editing with OSM is a very
important element of CityZen, since we want to give back to the
amazing OSM community, but also get more accurate data for the app.
* the app is only available for Android operating systems at this
stage and due to the many proprietary restrictions from Apple;
* Try to use CityZen in as many locations as possible. Also heavy
usage will help us get more information about the bugs the app might
have at this stage.
For any questions you might have you can send us an email by replying to
this email or ping us to the Telegram group we have created:
https://t.me/joinchat/BQzDAwrz7dSRaVfXxZ_-GA.
On behalf of the CityZen app team thank you once again for your
involvement. Once we publish the code on Github you will be able also to
contribute on the development of the next versions of the app. After all
it will be published under a permissive open source license :)
Cheers and thanks,
