Appart from the rpm aspects, it is very convenient when you need to
debug a problem to be able to easily check which files changed latest¹
That does not work when rpms replace everything with the build farm
creation time.

You may agree that's just a convenience, but timestamps are everything
about convenience, and no one ise seriously arguing to remove them.

¹ and git is a major PITA from this POW
