Hello Everyone, I read about Fedora App and i want to contribute into it. But i'have some questions : Fedora App project is divided into two parts : 1. UI/UX Research and Design 2. Backend Can i apply for only one part or both ?
I am trying to clone the App repository https://github.com/sumantro93/Fedora-Community-App and build the app since last 2-3 days but project build is not working. I am using Android Studio 3.0.1, Does this project is build under something different version of android studio or different IDE like Eclipse or am i missing something ?

Hi, you can apply for both projects. I encourage you to talk to the specific mentors and see if there is one that suits you better than the other so we have that data when reading applications.

I am going to let the mentors reply here.

They are two different project ideas, but you can talk to the mentors and ask them if you can work on both if you would like to do so. The points of contact for the project are Kanika Murarka and Sumantro Mukherjee.

You should discuss this in the repository issue tracker, not in this mailing list. Writing documentation on whatever you do to solve your problems or fixing the builds (if they are broken) are a good start which could boost your chances of being accepted in the project.

The app isn't native Android (the regular JAVA based app), rather it's a hybrid app[1] using Ionic Framework[2] and Cordova[3]. You need those three along with the Android SDK to build the app. I have outlined the requirements in a patch I submitted -- it's pending review. You can see them in this pull request.[4]
It's isn't very straightforward to build the app in its current form. I have tried to address some of the issues in my PR, but there are still some additional bits.
1. Remove the `node_modules` folder. 2. Install python, gcc, gcc-c++ and make if you are on Linux or XCode if you are on a mac. Good luck if you are in windows as the procedure for installing the compilers is awful. (You need the correct version of Visual Studio, depending on the version of NodeJS installed)

Hi Sanjay, As mentioned in previous replies, you can contribute to both the parts, but you can be selected for only one of it.

The repository link has been updated to following:- https://pagure.io/Fedora-app. You can sneak around issues and can file one if you face some trouble,
