Fedora 16 Alpha Release Candidate 5 (RC5) Available Now!

**IMPORTANT** : The next Fedora 16 Alpha Go/No-Go meeting is in less
than 24 hours - Wednesday, August 17, 2011 @21:00 UTC (17:00 EDT/14:00
PDT) so the Alpha test cases (see below) would need to be done by then.

As per the Fedora 16 schedule [1], Fedora 16 Alpha Release Candidate 5
(RC5) is now available for testing. Please see the following pages for
download links and testing instructions. In general, official live
images arrive a few hours after the install images: see the links below
for updates. When they appear, the download directory should be the same
as that for install images, except with the trailing "/Fedora/" replaced
by "/Live/".

Announcing 389 Directory Server version 1.2.9.6 Testing

The 389 Project team is pleased to announce the release of
389-ds-base-1.2.9.6. This release has fixes for bugs found in 1.2.9
testing and bugs from earlier releases.
NEW: EL6 support
Beginning with RHEL 6.1, the 389-ds-base package is included in the base
OS. It is the same as the upstream, except that it has no replication
nor windows sync functionality. That has been split off into a new
channel - Enterprise Identity Replication - and a new package -
ds-replication. Therefore, the 389-ds-base package can no longer be
provided via EPEL, due to RHEL/EPEL packaging restrictions.
However, the 389 Project will still make the full 389-ds-base package,
including replication/winsync, available via
http://repos.fedorapeople.org/repos/rmeggins/389-ds-base. See

How to Give Feedback
The best way to provide feedback is via the Fedora Update system.
* Go to https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates
* In the Search box in the upper right hand corner, type in the name of
the package
* In the list, find the version and release you are using (if you're not
sure, use rpm -qi <package name> on your system) and click on the release
* On the page for the update, scroll down to "Add a comment" and provide
your input

Fedora 16 Alpha to slip by one week.

Today at the Go/No-Go meeting it was decided to slip the Alpha by one
week[1]. Minutes follow below.
There are numerous unresolved blocker bugs at this time[2], requiring
the creation of an RC4 once these blockers are resolved.
As a result, ALL MAJOR MILESTONES, and their dependent tasks, will be
pushed out by one week.
We will proceed with having the F16 Alpha readiness meeting tomorrow,
2011-08-11, as previously announced on the Logistics mailing list. We
will have another F16 Alpha Blocker Bug meeting this Friday.
The adjustments to the F16 schedule will be done (very late) tonight,
and published to the Schedule wiki page[3].
Thanks for your patience. We will be meeting again next Wednesday for
another Go/No-Go meeting.
