Flock 2016 bid process open
by Ruth Suehle
We haven't quite gotten to this year's Flock, but it's time to start the
bid process for next year! We hope doing so will stir some discussions of
possible locations during this year's event.
Continuing the alternating of continents, we'll be back in Europe for Flock
2016. If you'd like to host next year's event in your city, it's time to
start putting together a bid. To find out how, read the wiki page:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Flock_bid_process
Bids are not due until after Flock 2015, but you should not wait to start.
It takes a significant amount of time to compile the required information
for a good bid.
Along those lines, keep in mind that committing to help plan a conference
is a lot of work and shouldn't be approached lightly. It's a big time
commitment, and as the local contact, you're critical to the success of the
event.
Historically we have held Fedora events on college campuses simply for the
reason that this is often free space if we know a student or faculty member
there, but it is not a requirement that we be on a campus if we can find
other affordable space. For example, Flock 2015 has the assistance of RIT,
but we will not be on their campus.
Feel free to let us know if you have any other questions or need help
getting your bid together.
Thanks!

Boston to Flock Rochester Rideshare?
by Adam Holt
As the bus appears canceled this year (
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/flock-planning/2015-June/000746...)
would anybody driving from Boston be willing to accept gas money and a very
slim, hassle-free passenger Tuesday Aug 11th and/or Saturday Aug 15th?
I can meet absolutely anywhere/anytime 24x7 in Boston on Aug 11th if it
helps (or even after midnight if someone needs help driving 6 hours safely,
and prefers to avoid hotel fees that evening). Likewise I can return to
Boston absolutely anytime Saturday Aug 15th -- or Friday Aug 14th PM if nec,
Cheers!
Adam

Fwd: Linux Action Show at Flock 2015 - Live from FLOCK
by Zoltan Hoppar
Hi Remy,
I have received from Noah (Linux Action Show) the following:

Hi Zoltan,
It appears that this year it's going to be very difficault to attend
FLOCK. We will defiantly be looking at putting on the calendar for
next year. Evidently Chris has a wedding that weekend and it comes
just a day or so after LinuxCon which we are already committed to. I'm
working with one of our producers to see if we could do something
smaller this year and bigger next year and I'll get back to you when
that becomes finalized.
Thanks!
Noah

Hotel booking reminder
by Ruth Suehle
Reminder! If you have not booked your hotel room, the deadline is just over
a week away.
Visit https://resweb.passkey.com/go/FLOCK2015 to book a room at the
conference rate by July 16. Reservations made after this date will not be
at the Flock rate. More importantly, we'll have to pay for them anyway if
we don't make our block, which we're still a few rooms away from.
Thanks!

Linux Action Show at Flock 2015
by Zoltan Hoppar
Hi guys,
Earlier I had the idea to have a bigger press presence about and
around Fedora, so I made a ticket on the marketing trac (#144), that
would be a good idea or not to have one of the best and known linux
podcasters - The Linux Action Show - on our upcoming Flock. They are
running pretty long time an recurring linux show, and lots of users
are waching it.
If you don't know them: check at www.jupitebroadcasting.com
Also not so long ago I have sent an request as the LAS team has
interest to visit us in Rochester or not, and I have received an
response and a contact.
Here is the last response:
"As a Fedora user I would LOVE to come to your event and checking my
Google calendar it doesn't look like we have anything on the books for
August. I can't say for sure as neither Chris nor I have the brain power
to think about this until after SELF.'
Thank you for reaching out, I hope I can make it!
Noah J. Chelliah <linuxactionshow(a)jupiterbroadcasting.com>"
So, if we returning after SELF event (June 12-14, 2015) to this, I try it
again to have a confirmation, and some key members too to have interviews,
or live show at the event place if that is possible. But I also wanted
to share with the main FLOCK event organisers, and that's why turned
towards you guys.
Here are my questions:
- Is it a good idea to have an LAS show hosted in FLOCK, and do we
have capacity for have them on board, and between the participants?
Ps: Cheilliah is a long term Fedora user (since core 1) and real deep
enthusiast.
Thanks,
Zoltan Hoppar (FAS: zoltanh721)
