tl;dr: New process coming, please hold. Do not panic about flight prices.
That's our problem.
The flight purchasing process is not ideal at the quantity it takes for
Flock. It means that I (or this year I and my super helper Paul Frields)
buy as many as we can until we've maxed out our credit cards, pay them
off/get reimbursed by Red Hat, and start over. Since RH only does
reimbursements weekly, this isn't a speedy process. (Paypal reimbursements
are similar, except to avoid fees, I generally pay these personally and get
reimbursed later, which is in some ways even worse.)
While talking about this to someone else at Red Hat this week, I learned we
can use our corporate travel agency and a purchase order to MASSIVELY
SIMIPLIFY this. That means instead of emailing me 27 times, you just call
the company, work out the flight, I approve it, and they charge it against
an open PO. SO MUCH BETTER.
They are supposed to call me Monday or Tuesday to work out the details.
Then those of you who have not yet had your flights booked will get
information on who to call. This also makes it easier for you to get the
flight details that you want. Please be respectful of the budget and don't
abuse that. I will still be checking to make sure the flights are within
the expected costs.
