Why do you think, that the installer should do all this? Do you know that we
offer installations with non root privileges? And also installations of simple
tar.gz files. Why do you want to add this complexity into the installation, if
it is not necessary? The correct fonts for each of our OOo builds are always
available in share/fonts/truetype. Did you check, if fontconfig works correctly?

FWIW I extended this comment in issue 113700 to be more generic (not OpenSymbol-specific):
The installer must make sure that there are no competing files for the same font face: If a font face is
installed system-wide then the OOo installer must overwrite it with the newer version.

--- Comment #4 from Peng Wu <pwu(a)redhat.com> 2010-08-05 22:39:24 EDT ---
We made changes to WenQuanYi ZenHei fonts on Fedora 13 updates.
As most fonts on Fedora 13 use anti-aliased fonts, I switched ZenHei from
bitmap font to antialias font by default. But there are a tool by which you can
switch back to bitmap font.
Please run the following command as root:
#zenheiset bitmap
This will switch back to bitmap font.
Thanks for the reporting.
