Fedora Classroom Article
by Eduard Lucena
Hello team,
This Friday will be the re-launch of the Fedora Classroom. That's why I
wrote a Draft [1] (sorry for jumping the Pitch process) that needs review
and edition.
Sorry if I jump steps in the process, I hope we can announce this in the
Magazine without problems. Right now we are facing 2 issues that should be
ready before friday session:
1. Definition of the BlueJeans ID for the first session.
2. Where updates about upcoming sessions will be published (we don't want a
weekly post in the magazine about the seessions).
But at least you can read the current announcement.
Br,

[magazine] New idea
by Alessio Ciregia
I wrote a very short draft about a geeky command that we can find in
Fedora: espeak.
Espeak is speech synthesizer, a command line tool that can speak text from
a file or from standard input.
There is not much to say about such command: some ideas, an example.
In any case I find it amusing, but at the same time useful to raise talking
Nagios alerts from my laptop, like a nerd. :-)
Ciao

[pitch] Disk space maths: The difference between KiB and KB
by Eduard Lucena
Hi team,
I have this idea recurring a lot of times, because people normally ask: Why
I buy a disk of 500 GB and I see less space in my system.
The general idea is to write a short article about what is the difference
between KiB and KB, what means that a 500 GB disk is (from the manufacturer
perspective) and what these 500 GB means in the OS.
I hope you like this idea.

Help needed: article on Vultr.com fedora hosting
by Matthew Miller
I recently worked with Fedora Legal and the people at hosting/cloud
company Vultr https://www.vultr.com/ to make sure their Fedora offering
meets our trademark guidelines. Good news is that it does now! I love
to see Fedora offered to users in this way. We've previously done
articles about Fedora in Digital Ocean and I'd like to do a similar one
for Vultr. Any takers?
Key information:
- Link to https://www.vultr.com/servers/fedora
- SSD-backed servers in 15 locations worldwide
- The installation image is based upon Fedora 26 Server Edition.
- In order to maintain consistency with other Vultr images, the default
login and SSH key location will be for the root user.
- The firewalld service is enabled to secure new instances. Its default
configuration will allow incoming SSH connections and ports will need
to be opened for other listening services.
- You can also upload custom ISOs if you want to use a different Fedora
spin or create your own
Also, they are willing to provide complementary access to a writer so
you can try it out and write from experience rather than just ad copy.
(Contact me for details.)
Anyone interested?
