Follow-up: problem loading php dynamic libraries
by Michel Alexandre Salim
As reported by Dave in msg01083:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/rhl-beta-list/2003-August/msg01083.html
I have ascertained that something PHP builds against broke sometime
after PHP 4.3.2-6 was built but before PHP 4.3.2-7 was; the former
worked fine but upon upgrading to PHP 4.3.2-7, no dynamic libraries
work.
I have tried rebuilding PHP 4.3.2-7 and -5 but the symptom persists.
This is rather annoying as I have to rebuild PHP with dBase support to
migrate an old database, and now I could get dBase to work (rebuild
source RPM with --enable-dbase in the spec file) but MySQL is broken.
Which product should I file a bugzilla report against? PHP, or should I
try downgrading httpd first? The problem does not seem to be related to
the Apache upgrade.

Michel

RE: RH10 multimedia support
by Joseph Phillips
I would just like to point out, if anyone from Red Hat is listening, do you
see what this trouble is all about? Do you get my point now?
These guys are pulling their hair out trying to get BASIC MULTIMEDIA support
on their Red Hat system!
Shall I rest my case?

Perhaps your link /dev/dvd isn't configured proper.
Try to adjust this directly in xine (viedeo input, device /dev/scd1).
Another possibility is that the DVD is CSS-type, and you have to install
libdvdcss.

drawer in panel strange behaviour
by Henk Breimer
Occasionally I use a drawer in the gnome-panel.
Until Severn this behaved as expected; sits there and waits to be
opened.
Since Severn (+ latest rawhide update) drawers open when X and gnome
start. Entering your office you would be surprised when this happened.
Is there a config for this action?
Has sombody else seen this?

Error in redhat-config-network
by Santiago Erquicia
Today I installed this beta and updated every package from the update
channel.
I'm really amazed how I got it installed really easy. I have a notebook
Toshiba Salellite A25-S207 and up to now everything is working perfectly
(sound, video card, touchpad, etc)
I'm experiencing an error when I try to open redhat-config-network.
This is it:
redhat-config-network:
Error copying
//etc/hosts
to //etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles//default/hosts:
[Errno 13] Permission denied:
'//etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles//default/hosts'!

XFree86 which version?
by Leonard den Ottolander
Hi,
Yesterday I downloaded all rawhide updates from my local mirror
(ftp://ftp.nluug.nl), and today I am getting the last packages that are not
yet available via the mirror from ftp://ftp.redhat.com.
To my surprise my machine started downloading XFree86-4.3.0-24. This seems
to be the only version available via ftp.redhat.com (by the way, quite
annoying that I can't download and have a tree view in my browser at the
same time because of "too many connections from your IP"), but at
ftp.nluug.nl only XFree86-4.3.0-25 is available. What happened? Was -25
pulled from rawhide for some reason?
Bye,
Leonard.

sbp2.o still fails on kernel linux-2.4.22-20.1.2024.2.36.nptl
by RaXeT
Here is what occurs if I try to enable IEEE-1394 in bios on reboot:
sbp2:$Rev:1010 $ Ben Collins <bcollins(a)debian.org>
Ssci0:SCSI Emulation for IEEE-1394 SBP-2 Device
blk:queue c19a6214 I/O Limit 4095mb (mask 0xffffffff)
IEEE1394:sbp2 Logged into SBP-2 device
There it hangs till the cows come home.
So my workaround is to turn off IEEE-1394 in cmos.
:)
Anyone want to share the fix with me?
Thanks,
RaXeT
