What to do if a deprecated license is used? nescc java files with intel license

Hiyas, I looked into packaging the nesc compiler (https://sourceforge.net/projects/nescc) and I noticed that it uses the deprecated intel license for some java files: http://nescc.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/nescc/nesc/COPYRIGHT?revision=1.2&v… http://nescc.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/nescc/nesc/INTEL-LICENSE?revision=1… I opened a bug in their bug tracking system for this: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2879881&group_id=56288&ati… The Intel license is OSI approved, but deprecated and therefore currently not allowed for Fedora afaics: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Licensing#Bad_Licenses Btw. it's a "should not", so maybe it is ok, nevertheless. Or it should be a "must not" guideline, e.g. because it also affects non OSI approved liceneses afaics. Btw. is someone else interested in packaging nescc? I would happily welcome a co-maintainer or become a co-maintainer, since I do not yet have experience with it. Regards Till

thunderbird upgrade - wtf?

Just upgraded my F11 workstation, which included an upgrade to thunderbird-3.0-2.7.b4.fc11.x86_64 Without any prompting or warning, my email layout -- a key interface into my open source development workflow -- was changed to use something called "smart folders". Also annoying, though of less impact to me personally, was the decision (again, without prompting or warning) to index all of my email -- of which there is a considerable amount. Now, I'm sure smart folders are a nifty new feature, but where was the warning about this upgrade? Why was this done late in F11, rather than F12? IMO, major MUA upgrades should be handled better than this. Jeff

Retiring package: ocaml-camlimages

Just a note to say that I'm going to retire the package ocaml-camlimages and ask it to be removed from Fedora. Reasons: (a) Series of security problems have arisen with the C code for loading images[1]. http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2009-2295 http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2009-2660 http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2009-3296 (b) Upstream totally unresponsive, despite repeated appeals. removing icqnd from licq package

Hi, I'd like to remove icqnd (the gtk gui for licq) from licq package. It's unmaintained for a few years and I think there are better gtk clients for icq so it doesn't worth the effort of maintaining it and make it compile with the latest licq. So if anyone has some arguments why to keep it then let me know, otherwise I'll update the licq to latest version and drop the icqnd - I'm also willing to give this package to another interested developer. Status of geronimo

Can someone shed light on the status of geronimo in Fedora? Seems like it hasn't managed to build since F11 - and the F11 build was never pushed. There is a geronimo-spec 1.2 in CVS that doesn't compile (missing dependencies among other things). Apache's site has version 2.1.4. Network not starting during install

When trying to install via rawhide the last few days, or at least within last week or so, the network wouldn't come up, whether via thru askmethod or normal defaults. It doesn't matter whether dhcp or static IP, still doesn't start and you get infinite circle of retry menus after each attempt. The hardware that might cause this if its that, is using the forcedeth driver (built into motherboard).
