For the purpose of doing a RPM packaging workshop, I need a simple clear hello world type example using autotools. Can anyone point me to something suitable for the purpose?
You mean GNU hello? :-) http://www.gnu.org/software/hello/
A tutorial is available at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/A_Short_RPM_Tutorial
Thanks to Przemek Klosowski for writing it.
There is a small bug in the example:
Instead of
%find_lang %{name} rm -f $RPM_BUILD_ROOT/usr/share/info/dir
this should be
%find_lang %{name} rm -f $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_infodir}/dir
Background: The example uses %configure i.e. it passes --infodir=%{_infodir} to configure, i.e. it's %{_infodir} where "dir" is being installed, not "/usr/share/info"
