The official (unprefixed) fedora image for docker is now available here: https://index.docker.io/_/fedora/
It has fedora 20 (via tags 20, heisenbug and latest) and rawhide.

As it wasn't created by Release Engineering, and afaik was not tested by QA. It is a remix and can not be called offical.

$ sudo yum install docker-io $ sudo docker run fedora cat /etc/fedora-release
(Second step can be not as root if you add yourself to the `docker` group.)

I agree, we need to be careful to not call it official. Getting to where it _can_ be official is something we'd like to see for F21 (or maybe somewhere before along the way).
ImageFactory now supports Docker as a target, and that is being integrated into Koji, so hopefully we will be able to make this a reality pretty soon.

What is the marketing pitch for this? Why should anyone care? Would be good to have that info in such announcements

When cross-posting to lists like fedora-devel (where a broad range of topics get discussed), it's useful to add some more *context* on how to use/or a URL to usage for people who don't interact with Docker on a daily basis. The URL you posted doesn't have an actual image! It's merely contains a command to pull the image once you have Docker installed, enabled the service, etc.
$ sudo yum install docker-io $ sudo systemctl enable docker.service $ sudo systemctl start docker.serivce $ sudo docker pull fedora
(And, as others noted on the list - it's useful to double-check with rel-eng before announcing anything as 'official')

aah, I see what you mean. I have mentioned on the docker index that the fedora image should be considered semi-official for now since it hasn't gone via releng.
I'll make sure to doublecheck future stuff, this one was sheer carelessness/excitement.
Sorry about that.
