A new snapshot of libedit [1] is now available and it involves a bump in the soname. Here is the relevant ChangeLog entry:
2009-01-11 Jess Thrysoee
* version-info: 0:28:0
* all: sync with upstream source. MAJOR.MINOR version is now 3.0. This is due to NetBSD changing time_t and dev_t to 64 bits. It does not really effect this package.
* configure.ac: Remove '--enable-debug' configure flag. The autoconf way to control flags is by specifying them when running configure, e.g. 'CFLAGS="-O0 -g" ./configure'
I am planning to update libedit _after_ Fedora 11 Alpha has been released. According to "repoquery --whatrequires `repoquery --provides libedit`" the following packages depending on libedit will be affected by this change:
asterisk ghc libreadline-java Io-language php-pecl-xdebug openssh-clients
What do you think?
Happy hacking, Debarshi

Then we should patch it to use the old soname. It's also logically correct because time_t is not 64-bits on 32-bit Fedora.
