Not a big problem but I wonder if other have windows maximized vertically going under their bottom panel (assuming a two panel top and bottom setup). I'm using intel graphics which seems a bit less stable than on F8.

That's specific to just metacity. Same thing happens on ubuntu gutsy: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/151604
Another regression I noticed wrt metacity resizing on Fedora 8 is if you toggle gnome-terminal fullscreen (AltF11) and back, then subsequently when trying to maximise the window, a fullscreen is done instead. Moving or resizing the window gets it out of this errorneous state.

I don't think the panel problem is specific to Intel, but you mentioned some instability; can you be more specific? What's unstable & when?
Thanks, Jesse

In my stock F8 setup, I had desktop-effects set to off and then started compiz with compiz-manager since I use ccsm. After installing F9B, this setup would result in my laptop locking up with screen corruption when I logged in. After trying some different things, all of which didn't help find the problem, I put it back to that original setup and it then wouldn't lock up but just log me out when I tried to login. I can't seem to run compiz at all now.
I was waiting for the big round of updates after the unfreeze to see if anything helped.
Thanks,
tjb

Since I think this is what I'm seeing, have you tried turning on the compositer for Metacity?
/apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager
I can enable this and be rock solid stable and have some nice effects, but if I enable compiz my X locks up pretty quickly.

That's what I am using for now. The original reason I posted was that with the compositor enabled, I got the max vert problem and when I turned it off, it seemed to work as expected. More testing is needed on my part though as it seems this is a known older problem.
Thanks,

I am able to verify that this is not a compositor problem. Though it did work correctly at first, it does happen with it off.
Thanks,
tjb

Ah ok, so F8 was ok but F9 is failing? I'm not sure which bits the F9 beta has, but I think airlied, ajax & krh have been putting all kinds of fun stuff into rawhide, so more recent bits may fix things for you, but are also likely to introduce fun new problems...
