I think theres a bit of a problem with the current release of yum.
Its terribly slow and prone to segmentation fault(i'm having probs
doing a valid backtrace, so if anyone gets yum crashing for whatever
reason forward me the backtrace).
I'm working atm on a piece of mozilla .xpi that will allow adding of
repositries to yum.conf easily and quickly.

no strawman update before Tuesday

I have not received adequate comments on my strawman this week, nor have
I made substantial progress in integrating some other materials by
today. Rather than send out something half-baked and then leave it to
rot while I'm on vacation, I'm going to shoot for next week as the date
for the next update. That update /will/ have a concrete proposed
governance model (with actual people nominated for actual roles wrt
Fedora Core). This is nothing earth-shattering, just an attempt to
codify existing practice and respond to many of the legitimate concerns
of others that too many aspects of Fedora are lacking in transparency.
Therefore, I plan to specifically update the Governance document, and
also try to handle the "non-free" stuff better, perhaps doing so the way
that Debian does in their social contract.

a GUI. This release completes the core features of the application.
You can now save and load works in progress and add arbitrary notes to a

kernel-2.6.7 build 499

Hello,
I have my own build system that is completely written from scratch with the aim
of finding build problems. I have been using the 437 kernel for quite a while and
decided its time to start trying the 2.6.8 rc's. I tried to compile 499 and it
errors out. I haven't found the exact problem, but I did notice that its trying
to do something naughty:
depmod: Can't open /lib/modules/2.4.20-31.9smp/modules.dep for writing
Why would a rpm package build be trying to modify my running system? The build
root is an entirely different path. Should this step be noop'ed or build-root
appended to the path? Do you want this in bugzilla?

Coreutils -> sh-utils, fileutils, textutils

Hi,
I have a question. As I'm going through my patches to send to Alan, I've been
weeding out my change everywhere to replace sh-utils, fileutils, and textutils
with coreutils.
Its been a couple of years since all 3 were merged into coreutils. How long into
the future will the trio of names be used instead of coreutils? Is it time to
finally fix it?

Fedora Core 1 Status Update

The Fedora Steering Committee proposes to transfer Fedora Core 1 to the
Fedora Legacy Project at the point Fedora Core 3 Test 2 is released. This
is currently scheduled for September 13, 2004.
This represents a one month extension from the original timetable but an
extension we hope will enable the Fedora Legacy Project to receive
considerably better quality access to the codebase.

Fedora Core 3 Schedule change

has been updated to reflect a one-week slip throughout the
schedule.
This means that the test 2 freeze is now scheduled for
September 1, and test 2 is now scheduled for September 13.
As always, the schedule may be subject to further change; we're
looking at ways to lengthen the test2 and test3 cylces some
to promote better testing.
