Debugging tipps anyone?
by Michael Schwendt
This is the result of last night's attempt at testing whether an updated
version of "wesnoth" 0.9.2 (Fedora Extras) would seem to work with FC4.
Clicking some buttons in its network related menus or connecting to the
official server lead to this fully reproducible crash:
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

(gdb) bt

#2 0x0026bb8e in start_thread () from /lib/libpthread.so.0
#3 0x00c79dee in clone () from /lib/libc.so.6
(gdb) t
[Current thread is 4 (Thread 54066096 (zombie))]
It's not reproducible with FC3.
Backtraces for the threads (attached) don't look suspicious IMO. Adding
more debuginfo packages didn't give more detailed output. Two other things
I tried last night was to build without -O2 and build SDL with default optflags
instead of -O3. No change.
Suggestions, ideas, or hints much appreciated.

updates list?

Is there a list were updates to fedora are detailed when they are
released? For example, where is the information about why xorg was
updated for fc4, etc.

Xen x86_64 timescale?
by Huw Lynes
I'm hoping the Red Hat Xen gurus can enlighten me.
Is there an ETA on an x86_64 xen appearing in rawhide?
If/when it appears is it possible to run both i386 and x86_64 VMs on an
x86_64 box? I've been through the xen docs and it appears that you can't
but I haven't really got my head around it all yet so I may be mistaken.
Thanks,
Huw

Upgrade through network
by glandvador
Hello,
Some thoughts about installing/upgrading the fedora distribution.
This morning (before going to work) I want to launch the upgrade of my
fc3 to the newest and greatest. So well, in order to minimize my
download I want to do it through the net. I burned the rescue CD and
boot on it. I then choose the ftp method, the mirror address and then,
well then I wait in front of my screen 25 minutes reading "retrieving
stage2.img". After that, some screens later, I was stuck with the
message "reading packages list". After waiting 5 minutes, I left for work.
Definitely, there should be some progress meters, just to tell how much
time it will take.
Also, there should be an ISO image, something like the rescue CD,
containing all this informations, to not wait so much time, pressing
"next", just to start real upgrading.
Real upgrading, I don't care, because I don't need to be here.
Edd.

iso xdeltas FC4-test3 -> FC4 ?
by Joe Desbonnet
Has anyone got xdeltas patches that can be applied to the test3
release ISOs to make FC4? I suspect they should be quite small.

FC4/FE4 feeds
by Ignacio Vazquez-Abrams
I was looking in Liferea today when I noticed that I saw FC3/FE3 and
Rawhide stuff, but not FC4/FE4. When will the feeds for those be in
place?

FC4: matrox MGA video driver corrupting display

Hi, the FC4 Setup in graphical mode on this machine:

[root@ghim ~]#
Does Not work.
I must reboot the system 4 or 5 times without turning off the PC just to
see a clear graphic interface.
The "linux nofb" option passed on boot sequence does not solve the
problem.
As soon as the setup process is finished I reboot the system and there's
a bad X graphic interface, so the o.s. is unusable.
After 4 or 6 reboots the graphic interface is loaded correctly and the
system work great.
I have found on bugzilla for FC4test[23] this Bug:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=153729
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=157556
Is this a known error for FC4 ?
there is a bypass or a solution?
Many thanks.

Excellent! Worked a treat.
Should I file a bug, or is this RHEL3 specific?
Thanks.
