Looking for Fedora bugmasters

I have been in an awkward situation for quite a while now: I created the tracker bug for FE-NEEDSPONSOR three years ago (which made me its reporter). Since then, I've been CC-ed on all the changes. I was wondering who should I contact to change the "reporter" of the bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=177841 Or should I open a bug for that? If yes, in product/component? roozbeh

I think it's time to retire pam_console from the default configuration. For device permissions, we already have the hal/consolekit support which should be use. The following packages place the following files in /etc/security/console.perms.d, and would need modified to work with HAL/CK: barry-libs: /etc/security/console.perms.d/10-blackberry.perms (quantumburnz) pam: /etc/security/console.perms.d/50-default.perms (tmraz) rainbow: /etc/security/console.perms.d/51-rainbow.perms (kantrn) em8300: /etc/security/console.perms.d/60-em8300.perms (heffer) jfbterm: /etc/security/console.perms.d/60-jfbterm.perms (mtasaka) thinkfinger: /etc/security/console.perms.d/60-thinkfinger.perms (?) svxlink-server: /etc/security/console.perms.d/90-svxlink.perms (lucilanga) vdr: /etc/security/console.perms.d/95-vdr.perms (scop) piklab: /etc/security/console.perms.d/icd2.perms (chitlesh) piklab: /etc/security/console.perms.d/pickit1.perms (chitlesh) piklab: /etc/security/console.perms.d/pickit2.perms (chitlesh) I'd be willing to chip in to get these fixed, it shouldn't be that hard. The second part of pam_console is that it provides the gating information for userhelper. There are many more apps that use this, and it's a more involved port to get them to use PolicyKit, or a similar framework. However, I don't see why we couldn't just port pam_ck_connector.so to drop the lock file in /var/run/console, and then usermode/userhelper can just work the same, without having to have a second extraneous pam module. We can then work on porting the other apps at our leisure. Opinions? Bill

Testing bugzilla <-> python access

Hey List, I am looking to do some tools for sending in review requests and updating them with revised versions via fedora-devshell. I'm also planning on putting in some bits to query BZ for review requests, download them, and test them in f-devshell too. There has been some talk about wanting to help integrate this into review-o-matic, so this is something that could probably make it easier to do reviews too. In order to test this, i would need a way to send and read entries in RH's bugzilla. I'm about to look for libraries to do so, but before i can start development, i will need a test environment of course. (Unless everyone likes seeing bogus review requests from me.) How do i go about emulating the parts of BZ i need to test this? Cheers, Yaakov

Xfce 4.6 beta3 landing in rawhide tomorrow (2009-01-20)

Just a heads up to everyone that Xfce 4.6 beta2 will be landing in rawhide tomorrow. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Xfce46 If you are using Xfce, you may need to 'rpm -e imsettings-xfce' to get things to upgrade as it's still using the old obsolete mcs config backend. (This is being worked on, but not ready yet). Testing/Bugs/Comments welcome. kevin

Announcing the Fedora Geo Spin

Hi Lists, Let's begin with an apology, shall we? Sorry for cross posting, but this does concern people on multiple mailing lists. I would like to announce the formation of a Fedora Geo Spin with tools for integration into Open Street Map. For more information, please see the following link: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Ynemoy/Fedora_Geo_Spin In short, the Fedora Geo Spin will be a respin of Fedora with packages for doing OSM and cartography installed out of the box, or included on a LiveCD and/or LiveUSB. For OSM people, the primary advantage is a live usb stick that can be used at mapping parties to save time configuring user computers to do mapping. The USB stick can then be brought home, and the user can continue doing mapping there. For Fedora people, it gives us better Fedora exposure. Right now, the spin is a draft, and once completed will be submitted to the Fedora Spins process for approval and inclusion in Fedora as a blessed spin. Citadel groupware for Fedora

Hi. Has somebody ever looked at Citadel <http://www.citadel.org/>, a groupware solution, and maybe considered including it in Fedora? Among all the pseudo-OSS and/or the too huge/too complex groupware packages that are around, this one looks rather promising. Why different keys for -testing and non-testing?

Currently we have two gpg keys per release, one for rawhide/updates-testing and one for the final release and stable updates. This complicates a number of things and I'm really wondering what is the real actual value we get out of having multiple keys per release? I have some ideas that I'm going to keep to myself for right now, but I'd like you, the consumers to help me understand what value you see in it, and if that value remains if we were to have a key we applied to all koji builds as the happen which is different from the 'release' key we'd use at release time and updates(-testing?) time for each release. -- Jesse Keating Fedora -- Freedom² is a feature! identi.ca: http://identi.ca/jkeating
