No video play back after upgrading from F12 to F13
by Luming Yu
Hi there,
After yum upgrade from f12 to f13, I see the video play back stop
working (play back window is black and the progress bar seems to be
always at 0) with banshee and totem. Flash player plug-in in FF
still works as before.
Any suggestions to the problem?
Thanks,
Luming

bodhi statistics
by Luke Macken
I recently wrote some code to generate detailed statistics of Fedora & EPEL updates within bodhi. Eventually this will be auto-generated and exposed within bodhi itself, but for now here are the initial metrics.
This report definitely conveys the shortcomings in our testing, however, it does show us improving with each release. For Fedora 13, we implemented the No Frozen Rawhide process with improved Critical Path policies, which were definitely a success. With these enhanced procedures, along with the upcoming implementation of AutoQA and the new Package update acceptance criteria (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Package_update_acceptance_criteria), I think we'll see these numbers drastically improve in the future.
You can find the code that generates these statistics here: https://fedorahosted.org/bodhi/browser/bodhi/tools/metrics.py https://fedorahosted.org/bodhi/browser/bodhi/tools/log_stats.py. If you have any ideas or suggestions for different types of metrics to generate, or if you find any bugs in my code, please let me know.

F13: nouveau driver seems to swap video streams on NVIDIA NVS-290.
by Charles Butterfield

Michal: Seems pretty similar to me too. In any event, per the prior
suggestion, I filed the following bug report:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=602492
Seems like we have gotten past the initial confusion with monitor
position as opposed to which connector (or connector half) the
pixel stream is being sent to.
Now that the bug report is in good hands, I'll be watching that,
rather than this list.

F13: nouveau driver seems to swap video streams on NVIDIA NVS-290.
by Charles Butterfield
I suspect the nouveau driver is swapping or mislabeling the two video
streams that the NVS-290 card generates. Here are my clues:
Setup
- Fedora-13 and nouveau driver (latest yum updates as of midnight)
- NVIDIA NVS-290 video card
- nouveau exposes 2 outputs to XRandR (DVI-I-1 and DVI-I-2)
- The NVS-290 video card has a DMS-59 connector, with a
short DMS-59 to Dual VGA cable with VGA connectors
labeled 1 and 2.
- VGA connectors #1 and #2 are connected to monitors #1(Left)
and #2(Right).
Behavior
1) At boot time, before the nouveau driver is involved, the boot text is
output on the VGA connector labeled "1", which is connected to
monitor
#1 (on my left).
2) At GDM login time, monitor #1 is clearly assigned to the right of the
Virtual screen (its right edge is "impenetrable") while monitor #2 is
on the left side. Weird, but in theory just an odd default. But
wait.
3) Inspecting the "xrandr" output, it is clear that pixels on the
virtual
screen that are directed to "DVI-I-1" are going to monitor #2 and
vice versa (DVI-I-2 goes to monitor #1). I checked the default
situation, then flipped the two halves of the virtual screen back
and forth with xrandr, checking the xrandr status each time.
4) The last bit of weirdness is that the xrandr geometry setting
commands
seemed reversed from what would be expected. Maybe that is the
inevitable result of mislabeling the data stream, or perhaps it is an
important clue in its own right. My head hurts at the point.
Misc
5) Oh yes, I buzzed out the cable, just in case it was mis-wired or
mis-labled. It's fine, that is DMS59:VGA2_RED -> VGA#2:RED, etc.
Please advise if this should be posted somewhere else.

heads up: redland package split
by Orcan Ogetbil
As per the request of the folks dealing with minimal installations,
the mysql, pgsql and virtuoso plugins of redland are separated into
their own subpackages redland-mysql , redland-pgsql ,
redland-virtuoso, respectively.
If you own a package that uses the redland library, it would be good
to check whether your package uses one of these plugins, and add the
necessary subpackage as a dependency if necessary. The change is done
only in rawhide (F-14).
Orcan
PS: Currently we have,
$ repoquery --whatrequires --alldeps --enablerepo rawhide redland

initscripts-9.12-1.fc13 update not installable
by Michel Alexandre Salim
The update conflicts with NetworkManager; there is a NetworkManager
build for F13 from a few days after initscripts was build that, for
some reason, was never pushed as an update:
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=172856
Are these two updates supposed to go together? I downloaded all of
them and rpm --test seems to suggest they would install just fine.

Re: bodhi statistics
by Adam Miller
Luke's dictionary is more correct than yours.
.... anyone else see how horrid the line I just wrote sounded in your head
when you read it? That's what this thread sounds like. Did we really need to
take some raw numbers that Luke was kind enough to put together and make it
into some sort of QA methods holy war?

To me, your definition of success is "compliance with *your* process".
Whether this process is suitable to improve package quality, whether the
technical system behind it is a good approach and whether your approach
actually improves package quality or is mere bureaucray is highly
questionable.
That said, all you demonstrated is your system not being entirely
broken, but I don't see any "success" related to QA in your statistic.
