Rstudio
by Steve Grubb
Hello,
I like to have everything on my system in a package. So, I looked around and
found no recipe or rpm for Rstudio. This is really a shame because every
tutorial on R kinda tells you to install it. Even the Coursera classes in the
Data Science track make you install it and send a screenshot to prove it.
So, I spent some time getting it packaged and working. I am placing the spec
file and necessary patch here so that google finds it and saves other people the
trouble. I'm not wanting to submit the package to Fedora because its more work
than I have time for. If anyone else wants to take it from here and submit
and/or maintain it, feel free.

Enjoy...

Self Introduction: Anderson Sasaki
by Anderson Sasaki
Hello all,
My name is Anderson Sasaki and I recently joined the Red Hat crypto team.
I have been working with cryptography and HSM's (Hardware Security Modules) for a while (8 years or so).
My objective here will be to help the maintenance of PKCS#11 related packages and to contribute to related projects.
I've been using Linux since 2006, but never contributed to the community.
I hope I can help the community from now.
Thanks,

[Proposal] Mass change: remove executing gtk-update-icon-cache in
%post/%postu/%postrans to update hicolor theme cache
by Tomasz Kłoczko
Hi,
I'm trying to follow procedure described on
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mass_package_changes
Description of the current state
=======================
At the moment more than many spec files have %post/%postu/%postrans
scriptles in which is done updating hicolor theme cache by calling:
gtk-update-icon-cache -f %{_datadir}/icons/hicolor
All those scriptles are no longer needed because in hicolor-icon-theme
package has file triggers updating theme cache on any change in single
dnf/rpm transaction.
$ rpm -q --filetriggers hicolor-icon-theme
transfiletriggerin scriptlet (using /bin/sh) -- /usr/share/icons/hicolor
gtk-update-icon-cache --force /usr/share/icons/hicolor &>/dev/null || :
transfiletriggerpostun scriptlet (using /bin/sh) -- /usr/share/icons/hicolor
gtk-update-icon-cache --force /usr/share/icons/hicolor &>/dev/null || :
Remove all those %post/%postu/%postrans scriptles will speedup install
and upgrades as only one time gtk-update-icon-cache will be executed
as hicolor-icon-theme transaction action.
List of affected packages
===================
On the list is more than 1300 packages.
List has been generated in directory with all spec files extracted
from git repos using command:
$ grep 'gtk-update-icon-cache.*hicolor' * | grep -v hicolor-icon-theme
| awk -F\. '{print $1}' | uniq > gtk-update-icon-cache_hicolor.lst
gtk-update-icon-cache_hicolor.lst has been added as the attachment in
this email.
If it will be no more comments about this proposal I'll try in a week
follow next steps of the procedure described on Fedora wiki sending
final proposal to devel-announce list and after this raise ticket in
BTS.
PS. Please advise how to implement change without raising +1300
tickets on bugzilla (I'm not going to sped weeks or months on
introduce such simple change)

LLVM 6.0.0-rc1 in rawhide
by Tom Stellard
Hi,
I've just pushed LLVM 6.0.0-rc1 builds to rawhide. If your package depends
on LLVM no action is required at this time, because dnf should automatically
pull in the compatibility package llvm5.0 as a dependency. The next time you
rebuild your package, if you still want to link against llvm 5.0, then you will
need to explicitly change the Requires tag in your package to ask for the llvm5.0
compatibility package.
If you run into any issues with this, let me know.

make yum repo when we build things in koji
by Dusty Mabe
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA256
I often build an rpm in koji to make sure it builds but in order to
consume that rpm using our tools most of the time it needs to be in
a yum repo somewhere. I could create a repo locally and serve it locally
or even push it to somehwere to fedorapeople. The problem is, I'm lazy.
I'll often just take the srpm from koji and import it into copr and then
consume that repo once the build has finished over there (thanks copr)
The problem with this is that it's kind of a waste of resources. It would
be much more convenient if koji just output a repo I could consume (similar
to how copr does) even if the repo is only for a single rpm.
Is this a feature request that exists? Has this been discussed before and rejected?

RFC: Dropping %{?_isa} hack
by Igor Gnatenko
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA256
Hello,
Does anybody know why we are still using %{?_isa} thing?
DNF/libsolv forcefully install 64bit package for any 32bit package in
transaction. So it is not possible to get 32bit package without 64bit
counterpart.
So then what's the reason of using %{?_isa}? Just some old cruft from yum era?
Can we drop it? Thoughts?

[Test-Announce] Proposal to CANCEL: 2018-01-22 blocker review meeting
by Adam Williamson
Hi folks! I'm proposing we cancel the blocker review meeting for
Monday. There are only two proposed blockers, which doesn't seem worth
running a meeting for. HOWEVER, I do suggest that folks take a look at
the proposed blockers and vote in-bug, so we can move forward on them.
Thanks!

F28 systemd plans?
by Tomasz Torcz 👁️
Hi,
Taking the advantage of the fact that developers of both (fedora and systemd) attend
this list, let me ask: will we get systemd v237 in Fedora 28?
We have a bit over a month until branching. As WireGuard support got
merged into networkd, I'm very very very interested in getting v237 with next Fedora.
Thanks,
