F37 proposal: SELinux Parallel Autorelabel (Self-Contained Change proposal)

This proposal will only be implemented if approved by the Fedora Engineering Steering Committee. == Summary == After a system's SELinux mode is switched from disabled to enabled, or after an administrator runs `fixfiles onboot`, SELinux autorelabel will be run in parallel by default. == Owner == * Name: [[User:plautrba| Petr Lautrbach]] * Email: plautrba(a)redhat.com == Detailed Description == SELinux tools `restorecon` and `fixfiles` recently gained the ability to relabel files in parallel using the `-T nthreads` option. This option is currently not used in the automatic relabel after reboot. When users want/need the parallel relabeling they have to specify the option explicitly (e.g. `fixfiles -T 0 onboot`). With this change `-T 0` (0 == use all available CPU cores) will be the default for `fixfiles onboot` and users will have to use `fixfiles -T 1 onboot` to force it to use only one thread. Golang Mass Rebuild

Hi Fedorians and Gophers, golang 1.18.4 was released a couple days ago. This release has fixes for 9 medium (rated by Red Hat Product Security) CVEs, so I will preform a rebuild in `rawhide` and `f36` to mitigate them[^0]. See https://groups.google.com/g/golang-dev/c/frczlF8OFQ0/m/4lrZh5BHDgAJ for more information about the specific vulnerabilities. [^0]: The golang version is Fedora 35 is EOL upstream, and the maintainers have not yet had a chance to backport the changes. Only packages that provide binaries need to be rebuilt, which will make this rebuild less disruptive. These packages were determined by querying for source packages that BuildRequire `golang` or `go-rpm-macros` and then checking if they provide any binary RPMS that install files in `/usr/bin`, `/usr/sbin`, or `/usr/libexec`. No action will be required from you, unless you'd like your package to receive special treatment regarding merging `rawhide` into `f36`. I plan to handle this rebuild later this week (the week of the 17th). In light of the recent discussion about large updates, I will most likely split this into 4 Bodhi updates per branch (a total of 8; each containing ~100 packages). ## rawhide Here[1] is a list of the affected packages on `rawhide`. Assuming the update would be compatible and comply with the Updates Policy, I can move your package into the other list and merge `rawhide` into `f36`. F37 proposal: Python: Add -P to default shebangs (System-Wide Change proposal)

Packages that adhere to those macros will change their Python shebangs from `#! /usr/bin/python3 -s` to `#! /usr/bin/python3 -sP` and as a result, will no longer have the directory of the script (such as `/usr/bin`) in `sys.path`. Previously, they contained `-s`, now they will contain `-sP`. However, changing `/usr/bin/python3` to a different Python would ''brick'' a Fedora system even now. So we don't consider that an issue. The change owners plan to test the change extensively via Copr before they deploy the change in Rawhide. If things go badly, they are prepared to delay or cancel the change. If a problematic package is found, it can opt-out easily. Spring Cleaning go-sig/June 2022

Hello Golang packagers, As it happened last month, we are trying to clean the situation with golang packages. In the last month we have seen big improvements (265 ->131 packages in the list), and I really hope next month we will be able to claim such a great result again! At the moment I've gathered all packages that depend on golang and the privilege that @go-sig has on them. I would ask of all of you to make sure all your packages have been added to the @go-sig group on src.fedoraproject.org (at least with "commit" access), unless there is a very good reason not to do so (and if that is the case for a particular package on this list, I'd be interested in knowing the reason). Without that, it makes it very hard for us to keep the Go stack up-to-date and in working order, because the "go-sig" list / bugzilla account does not get CC'd on new bugs that way, and your bugs do not show up in our BugZilla queries. MariaDB in Fedora - retiring 10.3 & 10.4 series

Hello everyone, Due to several circumstances I am stopping all efforts in maintaining MariaDB 10.3 & 10.4 series in Fedora. Just before that, I rebased both series to the latest upstream versions, so you will get all the security patches released as for today ! MariaDB 10.3: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-MODULAR-2022-0cd0202272 MariaDB 10.4: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-MODULAR-2022-c58e1ae21e Also, please notice that neither series is available in Fedora > 35, because our efforts to cherry-pick the OpenSSL 3 patch from the 10.8 series were unsuccessful. Furthermore, please note that _on upstream_ : MariaDB 10.3 will reach 'end of standard support' and EOL on: 25 May 2023 MariaDB 10.4 reached 'end of standard support' on: 02 July 2022 and will reach EOL on: 02 July 2024 -- I strongly recommend updating your applications to at least MariaDB 10.5 series. MariaDB upstream changed it's release model some time ago [1]. The upstream expects to release a new _serie_ every three months. Every new series (starting 10.6) support period was shortened to _one year_ only. Some of the series will be marked as LTS (long term support) with support period being at least 5 years. First serie marked as LTS is 10.6 Second serie that will _likely_ be marked as LTS is 10.10 My personal focus - as the package maintainer - is on the MariaDB 10.5 ; and MariaDB 10.10 (should it be marked LTS). Please consider all other series maintained (by me in Fedora) on 'best effort' basis only. The golden rule in case of my packages is that the development is done in base Fedora (branch 'rawhide'), so whichever version there is, it is the one maintained with most care. -- As always, anyone is welcome to submit patches or (preferably) pull requests to packages I maintain, or step in to maintain MariaDB series I don't have capacity for.
