I recreated the Fedora 8 Live CD with this command: livecd-creator -c livecd-fedora-8-desktop.ks -f F8Desktop -t /virtual/tmp
It boots and it installs to hard disk without problems, but after first boot there is no "first boot wizard" that creates user so all users get is an empty gdm screen to which then can it they know enter root as a user.
Is the firstboot package actually present on a live image?
I'm now writing from a freshly installed F8 Live CD (my respin with only updated packages no custom ones)
and here you go:
# yum install firstboot Setting up Install Process Parsing package install arguments Package firstboot - 1.4.39-1.fc8.noarch is already installed.
# whereis firstboot firstboot: /usr/sbin/firstboot /usr/share/firstboot
]# grep firstboot /var/log/ -R /var/log/anaconda.log:13:07:17 INFO : moving (1) to step firstboot /var/log/anaconda.log:13:19:31 INFO : moving (1) to step firstboot
13:07:17 INFO : moving (1) to step firstboot 13:07:17 INFO : moving (1) to step instbootloader 13:07:17 DEBUG : failed to unlink /var/lib/rpm/__db.000
What other log can I look for errors so to troubleshoot this bug?
Cheers, Valent.
