CLI users should already know how to deal with characters they can't type. It isn't that hard to use wildcards or copy-paste.
Well, if you allow one non-ascii character (for example, é), you have to be prepared to go all the way, otherwise people will keep pointing at the former and saying "But you allowed THAT one!".
They can say that all they want. The community doesn't have to accept their argument.
