Maybe the "isn't entirely removingdnf4 from the system" is the root of the issue. Is this planned?
For now, the preliminary plan is to keep the dnf4 stack in Fedora for another one following release, meaning if dnf5 switch is implemented in Fedora 41, dnf4 stack should be removed in Fedora 43.

What about adding the scriptlet to remove /var/cache/dnf to the dnf4 package? (That's how I understood the original ask.)
