Hey,
i`m having a strange bug in Fedora Core 7 latest version with all updates. somehow the fast user switching seems to cause problems (while loading in the applet) and crashes gnome completely. the only thing you can do than is restart X. thankfully the gnome bug reporting tool found it out and offered me to disable the broken applet and i did that. (took me about 100x restarting...)
now this applet is turned off in my root account and gnome is running fine but somehow my user account still has problems. sometimes gnome fully loads without any problems.. sometimes the desktop icons are all gone and most of the time the top bar (with the applets in it) is just not completely loaded and simply be useless because i can`t click any things in it.
now could this also be because of the broken fast user switching? if so.. how do i remove it from gnome in text mode? since i obviously can`t remove it by clicking on it because the entire bar is useless most of the times..
Thanx, Mark.
Sorry but i won`t. this is my last bug that i reported there: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla//show_bug.cgi?id=232044 and it isn`t even solved yet. not even a reply so i will just discus it here.

You have even less of a chance discussing it here since not all developers are watching all the conversations on these mailing lists while bug reports get assigned to the package maintainers.
Might be better to post with a bugzilla report if you want to.

You opened that bug 6 days ago and you expect it to be solved already? Give people time. Posting on this list won't get you fixes any sooner, and is likely to be ignored even more.

sorry, but this bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=213768 is there for months and no info on how to resolve it yet it is closed and marked as not a bug!!
But oke.. i will report this bug on that bugzilla. just know that if i`m not getting any reply`s on my bug report and the status gets from new to "closed" and the solution gets to "notabug" without any notification of what it might be if it`s not a bug... than i won`t leave any more bug reports there.
here is my bug report: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=232923
i sure hope that something is being done with this bug report.

According to the change history for that bug, you're the one that closed it. So, uh. Hmm.

than it must have happened by accident. it`s open again. i didn`t even know that i could close a bug ^_^

You can always close bugs you opened yourself. It helps if you differentiate between the following:
- policy stuff: there is policy you don't like, you file that as a bug, it may get closed NOTABUG, in that case this could be discussed on the list. And still be shot down in the end ;-).
- bugs: something doesn't work as it should (which is again defined by policy ;-). File a bug in bugzilla, in the case of particularly nasty bugs you might mention it here or on fedora-test so others may be warned (people can always query bugzilla if they run into non-fatal bugs). The worst that should happen to a real bug is "WONTFIX" which means "yes this is a bug, but I can't fix it for whatever reason".
Nils
Thanx for clearing that up. so i can open up a topic here in this list about a policy.. in that case i probably will do that for the mountable stuff.
and can we now get back on: [BUG] Fast User Switching
Thanx

If you find this inappropriate, it would probably be best if you hadn't closed the bug as NOTABUG in the first place. If the issue still persists, feel free to re-open the bug.
