Can someone please tell me why freeglut does not include headers?
Name : freeglut Relocations: (not relocatable) Version : 2.2.0 Vendor: Red Hat, Inc. Release : 11 Build Date: Thu 18 Mar 2004 01:09:33 PM EST Install Date: Fri 12 Nov 2004 06:13:12 PM EST Build Host: porky.devel.redhat.com Group : System Environment/Libraries Source RPM: freeglut-2.2.0-11.src.rpm Size : 362403 License: MIT Signature : DSA/SHA1, Thu 06 May 2004 06:18:03 PM EDT, Key ID b44269d04f2a6fd2 Packager : Red Hat, Inc. http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla URL : http://freeglut.sourceforge.net Summary : A freely licensed alternative to the GLUT library Description : freeglut is a completely open source alternative to the OpenGL Utility Toolkit (GLUT) library with an OSI approved free software license. GLUT was originally written by Mark Kilgard to support the sample programs in the second edition OpenGL 'RedBook'. Since then, GLUT has been used in a wide variety of practical applications because it is simple, universally available and highly portable.
freeglut allows the user to create and manage windows containing OpenGL contexts on a wide range of platforms and also read the mouse, keyboard and joystick functions. /usr/lib/libglut.so.3 /usr/lib/libglut.so.3.8.0 /usr/share/doc/freeglut-2.2.0 /usr/share/doc/freeglut-2.2.0/AUTHORS /usr/share/doc/freeglut-2.2.0/COPYING /usr/share/doc/freeglut-2.2.0/ChangeLog /usr/share/doc/freeglut-2.2.0/INSTALL /usr/share/doc/freeglut-2.2.0/NEWS /usr/share/doc/freeglut-2.2.0/README /usr/share/doc/freeglut-2.2.0/TODO /usr/share/doc/freeglut-2.2.0/download.html /usr/share/doc/freeglut-2.2.0/freeglut.html /usr/share/doc/freeglut-2.2.0/freeglut_logo.png /usr/share/doc/freeglut-2.2.0/freeglut_user_interface.html /usr/share/doc/freeglut-2.2.0/index.html /usr/share/doc/freeglut-2.2.0/ogl_sm.png /usr/share/doc/freeglut-2.2.0/progress.html /usr/share/doc/freeglut-2.2.0/structure.html
but yet when I compile it myself I get the following:
freeglut-2.2.0 freeglut-2.2.0/lib freeglut-2.2.0/lib/libglut.a freeglut-2.2.0/lib/libglut.so.3.8.0 freeglut-2.2.0/lib/libglut.la freeglut-2.2.0/lib/libglut.so freeglut-2.2.0/lib/libglut.so.3 freeglut-2.2.0/include freeglut-2.2.0/include/GL freeglut-2.2.0/include/GL/freeglut_ext.h freeglut-2.2.0/include/GL/freeglut.h freeglut-2.2.0/include/GL/glut.h freeglut-2.2.0/include/GL/freeglut_std.h
Is there something wrong with this or is it me??????
Thanks,
LDB
Why not just package them with freeglut? .. it is a library by definition anyway.
Thanks,
LDB

they're in the freeglut-devel package.

Because you don't need the headers on a system where you aren't compiling...and headers for all the libraries in Core add up to a lot of unneeded cruft on systems not meant to do development/compiling on.
