Recent rawhide instability

I'm seeing unstable behavior on my rawhide systems (x86_64) lately, pretty much 
since dbus started segfaulting on October 25 
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=212303).  This was fixed, 
but I've had this nebulous feeling of instability ever since.

Has anyone else noticed it?  Here are some problems on my systems.

* Thunderbird just coredumped -- three times in a row.  I have core files.  This 
problem is actually what prompted me to send this message.  No bz yet; it just 
now started happening.

* gnome-power-manager crashes and takes hald with it.

* CDs and DVDs no longer automount.  This used to work flawlessly.  I can mount 
them manually, but they no longer show up on my desktop like they used to.  (I 
use gnome/nautilus, and no compiz.)  No bz yet.

* When I insert a USB pendrive, hald segfaults.  I can't find a core file.  How 
do I generate a backtrace for this?  No bz yet.

Known bug[1]. HAL needs to be updated to CVS head to work with the
latest DBUS (the one in rawhide). You can find *experimental* HAL rpms
in my repo[2].
WARNING: Don't update to all the packages in this repo (especially
pm-utils) as suspend and hibernate _will_ break if you do.

Thanks for the info.  I notice you had only i386 packages, so I downloaded the 
source rpm.  Unfortunately I ran into some dependency issues building the x86_64 
rpm.

Yup.

This you will have to rebuild and install from my repo.

You can get these from fedora, as you would any other package.

If things break, you get to keep both bits. It might be better to just
wait for rawhide to sync with a cvs snapshot (with PolicyKit turned off)
unless you are comfortable with mucking about with random packages. :-)

Manually running "gnome-mount -d /dev/dvd" causes the dvd to correctly mount and

show up on the desktop.

Yes. I know that hald has crashed mostly on shutting down when the
message appears. A couple of days ago the gnome bug reporter kept
activating on login and it had something to say about hal, though I
haven't seen that in a couple of days.

My usb camera didn't automount.

I tried to print with my usb laser printer and it wasn't seen at all.

I've also had lots of problems with wireless networking not being seen
properly by network manager.

The latest ATI driver is having problems sending output to an external
projector. For a long time it only seemed to work if you booted with
the projector on, then for a while recently it worked just by plugging
the projector in, but now it doesn't work in either case. Reverted
back to the previous version.

After a (long) freeze I always have an expectation of instability.

Note, right now rawhide isn't going to be that stable.  It's really
early in the fc7 development cycle so experimental/unfinished things are
going in and also a lot of red hat engineers are currently dogfooding
RHEL5 snapshots instead of rawhide to finish stabilizing and polishing
it for its release.

Fair enough; I just wanted confirmation it wasn't only me.  I started running 
rawhide a few weeks after FC5 was released, so this is my first transition 
through one release and into the next.
