Fedora 31: Noninstallable Python 2 packages to be retired just before the beta freeze

In line with the approved Fedora 31 change, packages that fail to install due to 
missing Python 2 dependencies are to be removed. I plan to retire the following 
packages (or just drop their python2 subpackages) one day before the beta freeze 
(2019-08-28), that is on this Wednesday.

Maintainers are Bcced.

If you have a valid reason not to do that, give it now, ideally in the bugzilla.

Note that "oh no, this is used by XYZ" is not a valid reason, because those 
packages already don't install and XYZ cannot use them.
"I will fix this before the final freeze" is a valid reason not to retire/remove

the package.

I have on my list to fix the two packages of mine on the list, I just
have to prioritise all the work I have.

I have checked and pbrobinson(a)fedoraproject.org was bcced. perhaps gmail only 
tells you if you gmail.com addess was, i don't know.

That makes perfect sense. Should I delay the retirement of olpc-os-builder and 
olpc-update?

It usually works with it's icons, looking at the headers there's no
indication of any email sent direct at all.

Post what exactly, I'm now for the first time ever ignoring all mail
to do with bugzilla.redhat.com because the quantity I'm getting is now
unsustainable due to the constant spam from the python2 and related
stuff, I have so little spare time as it is it's now a self defeating
prophecy as the little spare time I have would be dealing with this
sort of thing but to cope with the deluge of mail I now delete them
and mostly are unaware of the problem.

Gmail preserves Bcc: for the matching Bcc: recipient only.  If you get a
second copy via different path, Gmail will randomly choose one version
of the messsage to keep.  Thus the Bcc: header may be lost if it is a
copy which does not have the header.

Comment that you don't want those packages retired because there is a plan to 
fix them before the final freeze. I guess that we agree that having 
noninstallable packages around brings no benefit to the users. Moreover in this 
case it blocks others, who would prefer to drop their packages and are only 
keeping them around for such noninstallable packages like the olpc ones.

You not being aware that your packages don't even install is hardly my fault, we 
report such cases as soon as we learn about them.

We are trying to communicate about this very openly and your "ignoring all 
bugzilla.redhat.com mail" approach is not helpful. I've sent this e-mail just 
for cases like this, so people are not angry again when we do the retirement. We 
are ready to pospone the retirements for cases where people care.

I'd gladly switch to a "don't even look at pbrobinson's packages and
never ever 
bother him with another bugzilla report". It would mean I would not retire any 
of your pacakges again, but I would not bother to ask you if I can retire your 
dependencies either. You would get less bugzilla spam, everything would likely 
stop working. Let me know if you prefer that.

They are but gmail does dedup so if you are BCCed and receive it via the mailing
list, you'll get only one copy of the email (I'm not using gmail and I've
received both).

Apparently, the freeze have been moved in the schedule today, possibly just 
correcting a typo:

This makes it hard, because I can either:

  - retire the packages today (and not give the time I've promised)
  - wait for Wednesday and miss the deadline

At this point I think waiting is better, however should we actually have the 
freeze on the 29th, as other contributors may planed their stuff according to 
the schedule?
