Dear Fedora Community, I'm orphaning the freefem++ package[1] since I don't have access to anyone that uses it and despite having an active upstream, it's a pain to get it to build with each new release.
Also, I can hardly speak French.
Nothing seems to depend on freefem++ directly. There are two open bugs: one for updating to the latest upstream release 3.32 and another to enable two more build dependencies.
Hopefully, someone who actually uses it can take care of this package.
Regards,

Crap, I have people here who rely on it. But I speak no French at all. I don't really want to own it, but I may just have to bodge a local copy.
When you say "each new release", do you mean each new release of Fedora, or each new release of freefem++?

Sorry to hear that, but it really doesn't make sense for me to keep maintaining it myself. And I was pretty convinced that nobody is using this package as there have been no bug reports from end-users in bugzilla.
But I speak no French at all.
Well, to be honest, I was half-joking about the French part. The developers do speak English, but there is some French traffic on the mailing list.

I meant each new release of freefem++. The build process tries to download sources for many external libraries and patches some of them, so you have to work around it.

Hmm. I looked at the patches and they don't look _too_ bad. I guess the issue is that you have to go in and make the same basic changes every release.
I would take this because I don't have a whole lot of choice (I have to keep something building in any case) but I would really like it if I wasn't the only owner.

Guess I could assist here, in particular to check whether the bamg headers part of freefem++ could be packaged for gmsh to use.
