And this is why after 12 years of Red Hat and Fedora, I'm now moving to
Linux Mint. I know I'm going to miss yum, but at least they support
Cinnamon and Mate.
I gave Gnome 3 a fair chance from its first release up to Fedora 17
beta, but it still feels like doing my job in spite of the desktop. I
wonder why Fedora is pushing Gnome 3 like that...
Fedora has invested a lot on infrastructure that supports other desktop
environments including
spins.fedoraproject.org and Fedora includes KDE,
Xfce etc and Cinnamon is under review at
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=771252. There were genuine
concerns about the maintenability of MATE and that has nothing to do
with pushing GNOME or whatever else.
