This only thing that changed was the updating of my ~/.fedora.cert
since it expired.
any ideas?

did you re run fedora-packager-setup.sh after putting your new cert in place?
if so please run it again. the ca certs got dropped from
admin.fedoraproject.org/accounts durring the fas migration. that has now
been fixed
