when update mysql to 5.1.x?
I plan to look into that in January.
This: http://monty-says.blogspot.com/2008/11/oops-we-did-it-again-mysql-51-release... doesn't exactly leave one with a warm feeling about the stability of 5.1, but hopefully it's good enough for rawhide. It's a pretty safe bet that updating to 5.1 will break some stuff that depends on mysql, so I think we need to make the cutover near the start of a fedora devel cycle, not near the end.

If you can't wait, you can try this: http://blog.famillecollet.com/post/2008/11/29/mysql-5.1.30-1 Not an official Fedora package though.

I also use MySQL 5.1 for very long time ago, from few rc-versions on production servers this is pretty stable for use on my opinion.
You can try it from my rpm-repository http://hubbitus.net.ru/rpm/Fedora9/mysql/
