gnome-power-manager quits unexpectedly

Hi,

I just installed Fedora5 Test2 and when I log into Gnome, I immediately get
a message box saying "The Application "gnome-power-manager" has quit
unexpectedly".  Then I open a terminal and try running 'gnome-power-manager'
from the command prompt, I get the same message box, but also the following
text is printed on the terminal:

** (gnome-power-manager:6362): WARNING **: main: Unable to determine the
address of the message bus

** ERROR **: This program cannot start until you start the dbus session
daemon
This is usually started in X or gnome startup (depending on distro)
You can launch the session dbus-daemon manually with this command:
eval `dbus-launch --auto-syntax`


I cannot find 'dbus-launch' anywhere in my path, but I verified using
'system-config-services' that the messagebus service is running.  Has anyone
else had this problem?

Do you have dbus-x11 installed?

I get the same problem persistently since installing from fc5t2 and 
upgrading to rawhide. (I just did another update this morning).

dbus-x11 is: dbux-x11-0.60-7.2 and messagebus is set to run on startup.

I get another message about selinux:
** (gnome-power-manager:2347):WARNING **: main: an SELinux policy 
prevents this sender from sending this message... (rejected message had 
interface "org.freedesktop.DBus" member "Hello" error name
"(unset") 
destination "org.freedeesktop.DBus")

Is there somewhere I should be resetting my selinux config or what..

This bug has been hanging around for a while. My laptop can't do
suspend/hibernate. Hope it get fixed when test3 released.

I'm guessing turning selinux off fixes the problem. What does the avc
log say?

Indeed (just installing a new rawhide so I can see the effect...), if
that doesn't work you can use the g-p-m dbus interface:

dbus-send --session \
	  --dest=org.gnome.PowerManager \
	  --type=method_call \
	  --print-reply \
	  --reply-timeout=2000 \
	  /org/gnome/PowerManager \
	  org.gnome.PowerManager.Hibernate

It appears that the suspend has replaced the shutdown option in the
desktop menu. Are we allowed to shut down or reboot anymore :-) Surely
it should be part of the option 'suspend|shutdown|reboot'

Can you file a bug report for this?. You can discuss issues in 
fedora-selinux list if you need more help. There is a lot of relevant 
information on SELinux and trouble shooting it available from

FYI, this was a symptom of a larger HAL daemon issue with SELinux and 
has been fixed in selinux-policy-2.2.15-1

For some reason, I'm still at selinux-policy-2.2.14-2.. new package 
hasn't gone into rawhide yet?

The problem is on the FC5T2 disc(s) - If you apply updates, it shoud go 
away and work normally.

Yes, I had the problem. Check the archives for the fedora-test list. 
There were many discussions related to gnome-power-manager in the later 
days of FC5T1 and the release of FC5T2.
