If you are going to waste Red Hat's resources and time by filing stupid joke reports like this, at least have the courtesy to convert it Theora format first.

Hehe, got me to look up Theora!
From the FAQ:
Theora is an open video codec being developed by the Xiph.org Foundation as part of their Ogg project (It is a project that aims to integrate On2's VP3 video codec, Ogg Vorbis audio codec and Ogg multimedia container formats into a multimedia solution that can compete with MPEG-4 format). Theora is derived directly from On2's VP3 codec; currently the two are nearly identical, varying only in framing headers, but Theora will diverge and improve from the main VP3 development lineage as time progresses.

Isn't that planned to be in FC3 (helix player)?

helix player and gstreamer.
But.. gstreamer... That is the gnome audio/video framework, right? What do you mean? Will (does) helix utilize gstreamer?
*confused*
Where can i find more info?

Right.
$ rpm -q --requires gstreamer-plugins | grep theora libtheora.so.0 $ rpm -q -i --whatprovides libtheora.so.0 Name : libtheora Relocations: (not relocatable) [...] Summary : Theora Video Compression Codec [...]
# rpm -q -l HelixPlayer | grep -i theo /usr/lib/helix/plugins/theorarend.so
What do you mean? Will (does) helix utilize gstreamer?
No. And gstreamer does not use helix.
*confused*
Where can i find more info?
rpmdb :-)

Hi,
But.. gstreamer... That is the gnome audio/video framework, right?
Nope. It is a multimedia framework, yes, and it is adopted by GNOME, yes. But it's not "the gnome framework". It's actually on freedesktop atm.
What do you mean? Will (does) helix utilize gstreamer?
It doesn't, and I'd be very surprised if it ever did.
Incidentally, does anyone of the redhat guys know if helixplayer was put into fedora because of the realplayer contract for the redhat distros ?

OK.
Real are just geniuses...
*real is going to hell <FOSS> Hey OpenSource it! *real looks sad, and throws the whole thing to the Foss-comunity *foss goes on and makes a good player and a new video codec *real takes thing back, thanks, and releases a good player (not mentioning the properitary real codecs *everybody wins: Real gets a "framework" for nothing, Foss gets (another) multimedia-player - which hasn't got any patent problems THE END
