There really needs to be a grace period there. Some problems, such as
dependencies broken by the removal, will only get noticed after the package
is retired.
(By the way, why were packages retired regardless of dependencies in this
round? In the past, only the leaf packages were dropped at first, and for
the others, the maintainers of dependent packages were asked whether to pick
up the dependencies or retire the dependent packages.)
