CFP / Travel booking proposal
by Máirín Duffy
Updated data points:
- Registrations: 42
- Proposals / Papers: 21
OK, was talking to Matthew about this, we need some logistics here since
as Stephen mentioned there's necessarily a back and forth dance to get
VISAs and flights booked.
Let me know what you think - there's basically 3 rounds of proposal
review / travel booking so it's more rolling starting on june 15
June 15 - CFP deadline.
June 15 - Announcement of a 1-week extension to June 29th.
June 16-19 - (Fri-Mon) We will review the papers thus far and vote and
have a list of accepts and rejects.
June 19 - Notify rejects
June 19 - Someone reviews the accepts reg details, makes sure they have
registered, notes if they need visa and anything else that needs to be
verified.
June 19 - Visa letter generation
June 20 - Someone will notify the accepts to confirm they can go, ask
any q's from the review, attach visa letter, ask them to respond by June
22 that they can go.
June 21-22 - We will review the newest batch of proposals, update list
of accepts and rejects.
June 22 - Notify rejects
June 22 - Brian will book travel for all accepts that confirmed.
June 23 - reg detail review for new accepts
June 23 - visa letters for new accepts
June 23 - notification / ask for confirmation for new accepts, asks any
q's from review, must respond by june 26 that they can go.
June 26 - Brian will book travel for new batch of accepteds.
June 29 - CFP closed for reals yo.
June 30 - Notify rejects
June 30 - Review of new accepts to verify reg is filed, noting any
details to be confirmed
June 30 - generate list of needed visas for new accepts
June 30 - notify new accepts, attach visas, etc, ask for response by July 3
July 3 - Brian books last batch of accepts travel
Questions for you all
---------------------
- Who will review the accepts on June 19, June 23, and June 30 to
generate the lists of visas needed and any other q's that need to be
asked of accepts? (Maybe Brian should do this since he'd have questions
about the travel booking deets?)
- Who will generate the visa letters? Can someone volunteer?
- Who will notify accepts and rejects?
Based on this I can put together time lines for each person.
Cheers,
~m

Hotel date locked out: Fri Sep 1
by Paul W. Frields
For some reason, the hotel site is not allowing attendees to check out
any later than Friday September 1, even though the 2nd and 3rd show up
as open, available dates (albeit at slightly higher rates). Is this
intentional?
Some travelers can't get later flights out of BOS on Friday and
probably would want to stay until Saturday to catch the appropriate
flights home, without missing Friday activities.

Wireless and networking at the FLOCK site.
by Stephen John Smoogen
Hi guys,
I was wondering how much bandwidth the site will have? It might be a
good idea to help set people's expectations on what they can do so
that we don't end up with a large number of cranky "WIFI sucks, upload
sucks, no one told me I needed to be patient and I have deadlines
here." developers.
Some of these issues can be mitigated by having some people tether,
others can be dealt with by people bringing wireless routers that
people can tether to. Others can be dealt with by having people bring
a copy of packages on a disk so people are getting stuff local vs over
a wireless link.

Talks at Flock
by Kanika Murarka
I have heard this year Flock is going to be less about talks and more about workshops. So if someone can give a better idea of about what the submission reviewers are looking for in CFP this year, it will help contributes to submit a good proposal.

Extending CFP / better marketing for it?
by Máirín Duffy
Hi,
CFP closes in a week and we have 21 proposals.
I'm thinking we'll need to extend the CFP. How much should we extend it by?
I also think we didn't advertise it as well as we should have. I am
drafting a community blog post to advertise it for today. It would be
good to get an updated CFP due date for it, if anybody has thoughts on
that. Otherwise I can publish with the current date (June 15.)
Let me know what you think
Cheers

Flock registration and session proposals now open
by Máirín Duffy
Hi everybody,
Patrick and I were able to finalize the Flock registration and proposals app (regcfp) today and with Stephen Gallagher's help we tested it and turned it on. Things to note:
- I don't have the hotel code yet. I will ask for it tomorrow.
- I have seen one report of a PayPal redirect issue. It was sent to flock-staff. I will forward to Patrick in case he's not on that alias.
- I announced it to the 2017 attendees list but have not yet put together any other announcements. A community blog post would probably be good. I'll work on drafting something. If anyone wants to help please hit me up!
- The deadline for CFP / funding request is set to June 15 right now.
- flocktofedora.org has also been updated, of course.
Check the registration app out here:
