If the point of this is to get contributors then I'd say the right
amount is $0 for them. For other people you need to balance the cost
of the attendee against the attendee's peceived value and those are
both unknown. So any number is just picking a random number that might
feel reasonable.
While it was mentioned in the meeting today that a fee was now
possible I missed any discussion of planning to charge one for this
event. I really think we are making this event difficult enough to
attend without doing that now.
I'm inclined to agree. I'd rather try to sell Fedora merch than collect
a registration fee. (I know that doesn't help us get budget for this
event, but unless we were going to charge three figures for
registration, I'm not sure it will make a difference.)
Then again, we can always reconsider this if we can't get sponsors to help.
