CommOps,
Some time ago, I made a request to the Fedora Infrastructure Team to
*require* a meeting topic when doing a #startmeeting with Zodbot.
https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-infrastructure/ticket/4952
This was requested for a number of reasons:
- More information inside of Fedmsg messages to help us find the right meetings
- Proper categorization for finding the meeting logs via Mote
Well, infra delivered, and it would be a great CommBlog article for us
to do a quick PSA: IRC meetings
In the article we should:
- Link to the trac ticket above describing the new requirement of
meeting topics
- describe the common meetbot commands (action, topic, info, link, help)
- specifically mention that #help is like a Fedora batsignal, and
that commops is on the other end of the red phone (it goes direct to
our IRC channel via FMN)
- Give a "sample" meeting agenda (like the commops etherpad, but with
really simple flow:
#startmeeting <MEETINGNAME>
#topic Agenda
#link <LINKTOAGENDA>
#topic RollCall
#.hello <FASUSERNAME>
#topic Old Business
#info this is where we discuss action items from last meeting
#action decause update trac ticket #1337 with discussion points
#topic New Business
#info this is where we cover new things since our last meeting
#topic Open Floor
#info this is where anyone can bring new/old business up for discussion
#endmeeting
- Describe Mote, our new IRC Logs site, and link to it
- Describe FMN, our Fedora Notification System, and link to it (with
screenshots?)
- Point to the source code repository for zodbot, and invite folks to dive in.
As an aside, it would be *really* fun to propose a Fedora badge for
contributing to zodbot, with a title like "Botsmith."
I don't think this is something that would be useful to the average
user (who don't typically work in IRC with us) but nearly every
contributor has to interact with IRC once-in-a-while.
Whaddya Think?

Hey all,
As discussed in meeting today, the Elections article about interviews
for this election cycle:
https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/?p=275
Do we want to aim for publishing this Friday 3:00 UTC? My main concern
was overscheduling in case that Flock article goes out the same day.

Dear all,
You are kindly invited to the meeting:
CommOps IRC Meeting on 2015-11-17 from 12:00:00 to 13:00:00 US/Eastern
At fedora-meeting-2(a)irc.freenode.net
The meeting will be about:
This meeting is for team members of the Community Operations (CommOps) team. The weekly agenda is mostly comprised of the different tasks detailed on the CommOps wiki page, although it is subject to change depending on time and context of what is going around the Fedora Project.
More information can be found on the [wiki page](https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/CommOps).

Hey all,
Just wanted to ask what you all thought about publishing this article
Tuesday morning, about the write-up of Fedora 23 on NetworkWorld that
mattdm forwarded to the Marketing list last week:
https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/?p=196&preview=true
If it looks good as-is, I think we should push it out tomorrow at 8:00 UTC.

Hey all,
This note just popped up in the Ambassadors mailing list. I think this
is some pretty prime content for the CommBlog.
Might be a good idea to encourage some of the FAmNA Ambassadors to port
a brief summary of LISA to the CommBlog!
-------- Forwarded Message --------
Subject: [Ambassadors] LISA quick report
Date: Sat, 14 Nov 2015 13:35:49 -0500
From: Matthew Miller <mattdm(a)fedoraproject.org>
Reply-To: ambassadors(a)lists.fedoraproject.org
To: ambassadors(a)lists.fedoraproject.org
Just some notes while it's fresh in my mind. :)
We had 200-some scanned visitors to the booth (which was combined
CentOS/oVirt and Fedora).
- I did a demo of Fedora Workstation running three VMs with Fedora
Server, with Cockpit. Cockpit demoed very well -- the monitoring
graph drew in attention and people were quite curious about it.
- I'd say a third of people I talked to used Fedora in a mixed
environment with CentOS and RHEL servers. This seems like it's up
from last time I was at LISA (two years ago), but that's subjective.
Another third were just CentOS/RHEL shops, and those people at least
listened patiently to my spiel about why mixing in Fedora both gives
awareness of the future and the ability to participate and influence.
- As always at LISA, very, very positive and Fedora friendly. Lots of
people commented on how solid the last few releases have been, both
as desktop and server OS.
- No one I spoke to using Fedora Cloud in EC2 or OpenStack. Quite a few
people _interested_ in Project Atomic -- there were hats with the
logo, and when people heard "container optimized", they were _very_
interested, but very few people had heard of it before.
- Ben Cotton suggested a Birds-of-a-Feather, so I wrote that on the
whiteboard last minute. Something like 16 people attended, mostly
users new to Fedora
- Several people commented on yum->dnf switch (why not just make it the
next version of yum?) Got this both at the booth and the bof.
Comments mostly along the lines of "what are you going to do *next*
that's like that?"
- Only one _really_ complainy person, who wasn't a Fedora user and had
no interest in being one, but was very, very concerned that we know
that his friend had left for Ubuntu because KDE crashed. Came to both
the booth and the BoF to tell us this.
- Thanks to Fedora Ambassador Corey Sheldon for helping run the booth,
and for dealing with tricky hardware problems like "opening the
pelican case" and "folding up banner stands". I'm a software person.

Quick Summary
========================================================================
1) Outline for guidelines to write an article drafted, comments needed
2) Minimum requirements: Categories, tags, one image?
3) Minimum publish requirements: Three +1's?
4) Deadline: Monday (?)
========================================================================
Hey all,
I drafted up the proposed "outline" of how a Fedora contributor can get
started with writing their own article for the Community Blog. Once we
get general approval on the process, I think this belongs on the header
bar to help gain a larger amount of views for people wanting to
contribute. It's definitely info that should be out in the open!
https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/?page_id=221&preview=true
Some of the things that do need to be discussed:
1) Basic requirements: Did we agree on these?
I thought I recalled us agreeing on a few basic requirements for
articles either in IRC or previous mailings, but I wanted to be clear. I
defined the basic requirements needed to publish as: (1) properly
categorized, (2) properly tagged, and (3) must have one image. I feel
like these are fairly basic requirements, but I wanted to confirm this
before slating it out as "fully official".
2) Minimum requirement to publish
This was something Remy and I (briefly) discussed on IRC and wanted to
poll the list about. Before a contributor should be able to publish
their article, we thought that a minimum requirement of three "+1's"
would be a good bar to set (similar to the Bodhi karma voting process).
Depending on the activity level of the list, I think this is a good
amount and if an article is ever "urgency of the moment", a regular
contributor should have the authority to okay publishing without waiting
for a 100% vote.
Curious to know what the rest of your thoughts are on this! I definitely
think we should try to get this page live by Sunday or Monday, so next
week's visitors will have a definitive way to help get involved. ;)

Hey all,
I have been working on some metrics-related tasks to help understand Fedora
Community more(Users and Contributors alike). One of the related works
involved doing some data analytics for Meetbot data to understand more
about how Fedora IRC meetings function.
I had published this work earlier on Planet Fedora and now that CommBlog is
up and running, we are thinking about publishing it to CommBlog.
Take a look at the article preview here and tell me what you think - any
thoughts/suggestions?
(Perhaps just a quick CommBlog-oriented glance if you have already read it )
https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/?p=129&preview=true
jflory7 - Thanks for the edits and letting me do the honors with the mail
:) You are too kind.
Cheers,
Bee
Hey Guys,
I think we should put an option for login in the main nav bar of the blog.
Currently it has 3 options : Home, Categories and Follow.
It would be easier for the contributors to login that way. What do you guys
think ?
