Build system hung up?
by G.Wolfe Woodbury
We haven't had any rawhide reports for a day or two now. Is the build
system hung up again?
Is there a URL for checking the status of the build system?

jabberd spec
by Colin Walters
Hi,
A while ago I spent some free time trying to bang this jabberd .spec
file I found into shape, but haven't had time to pick it up again. I
think it'd be great though if we got jabberd into Fedora or extras at
least. Hopefully someone will be able to take this and fix it up more;
it's FHS-incompatible and has some ugly bits like the test for
NETWORKING, etc.

USB Rescue Image
by Aaron VanDevender
I would like to create a rescue image similar to rescue.iso, except
formatted to go on a USB pen drive. I took all the files in the
rescue.iso image and copied all of the files over to the pen drive. Then
I reconfigured the isolinux part to use syslinux instead and installed
syslinux on the drive. It seems simple enough, and it *almost* works.
The drive boots, and asks for language and keyboard information but then
asks for the location of the rescue image. I assume its looking for an
iso-9660 filesystem where it can get the stage2.img ext2 filesytem which
is to become the root filesystem during the rescue operation. Of course
there is no rescue iso filesystem and giving it the location of the FAT
filesystem with the same contents dosen't make it very happy. So what
should I change to make it look for a FAT filesystem. I assume that it
would be in the linuxrc executable in the initrd.img that gets loaded by
syslinux, but I don't know where to look for the source for that. Any
hints would be appreciated.

sendmail, procmail, and SE Linux
by Russell Coker
avc: denied { read } for pid=10387 exe=/usr/bin/procmail
path=/var/spool/mqueue/dfi8OJTVmq010385 dev=dm-2 ino=452872
scontext=system_u:system_r:procmail_t
tcontext=system_u:object_r:mqueue_spool_t tclass=file
I have done a fairly default install of FC3T2 and upgraded it to the latest
rawhide and then installed the strict SE Linux policy. In terms of email
configuration it's all default.
I get the above AVC message when I run the command "ls | mail root", but the
result seems to be OK (mail is delivered in /var/spool/mail and has the
correct contents).
Now I would like advice from someone who knows Sendmail well, is giving
procmail an open file handle to a file under /var/spool/mqueue the right
thing to do? IE is this a bug in sendmail or is there some good reason for
allowing such access which only becomes apparent in usage scenarios different
to mine?

extras for RH9 / RHEL3 / CEntOS3
by Erik LaBianca
I've been playing with CentOS 3.1 a bit recently since following fedora
development on production servers is just more work than I have the time
to do and RHEL sales doesn't seem to want to return my calls.
In any case, I'd like to continue using packages from fedora.us. I've
pointed yum at the redhat9 repo, and things seem to work mostly ok. But
I have some questions.
1. Is an explicit RHEL extras repository planned? It seems like at least
adding the keywords to bugzilla and the buildsystem would be a good
goal. I see Dag Wieers is managing to do it. OTOH, the rh9 repo is
pretty close to fully compatible.
2. Some packages for FC2 (amavisd comes to mind) have dependencies on
packages that are not included in rh9 or rhel, but have been included in
more recent (fc1, fc2) core revisions. Would it be appropriate to
include them in extras, tagged for the os's which don't include them
only?
perl-MailTools and perl-TimeDate are a couple of the offending packages.
There are also a few packages that are marked only for FC1 or FC2, but
are working fine on centos. What is procedure for adding platforms to
existing extras packages, file a bug against them?
Thanks
