You and I are both fortunate that power cuts are rare where we live.
But one happened to me a couple of days ago during a 'git pull', and I
lost the git repo. It would have been much more frustrating if I had
been doing a dnf update and lost my RPM database... at that point, you
pretty much have to reinstall.
I think our offline updates are actually still vulnerable to the same
issue, because they are not transactional yet (maybe unless you have
btrfs?). But they are a necessary step to fix this problem.
