Speaking of which, I think it's fascinating that noone has noted
so far that the RPM database lives in /var, too.
Which I rather hate to lose, and so I do backup it.
The rpm db has not got the same criticity level. You lose it you just
reinstall (and properly organised entities have default system
templates).
/srv is for stuff you can't rebuild this way, and affects more than a
single system (because data is served to others)
