Just to make it clear, Ubuntu just has: dpkg/apt, Synaptic, and
update-notifier, right?
We (will) have: rpm/yum, s-c-packages(okay, pup), and pup's
update-notifier
The update-notifier is wonderfull.
IIRC, pup is to have an update-notifier as well (it will suck less
memory than rhn-applet, I'm assured)
I have a translator using Ubuntu, and the way the icon *only* shows
it
self when there are updates was enough to make her go check it out.
When she was trying Fedora, that didn't happen. The icon was always
there, and making it flash wasn't appealing enough.
Ah, icons. We should keep this in mind during FC-5 then
