There is a bug, we've been investigating but haven't fix yet.
Wild guess,
some pattern matching confuse by "++" in filename?
For the moment, you can just clone with:
fedpkg clone rpms/freefem++
And working from this clone should work fine.
Cloning works, I just can't push to this package's git.
