OpenJPEG has long replaced Jasper as the implementation of choice for
JPEG2000. I think it would be reasonable to drop Jasper and ask
upstreams to port to a different implementation if they still want
JPEG2000 support.
That's right. Bugs exist to port gdk-pixbuf and gegl to OpenJPEG, but,
sadly, progress is slow:
