If one makes a side by side install of Gnome from DVD and Gnome from
live you wind up with completely different package set thus completely
different experience of Gnome.
It's not a 'completely' different package set. The live spin uses the
same groups the DVD installs, but cuts stuff out to save space: it's
been very close to its size limit for some time.
