Or to ask it another way... if you use ide=nodma and mediacheck
succeeds when before it failed.. does that mean that you should then
use ide=nodma when doing the actual install on that system?

When I ran into this problem I had already checked the CDs on another
system(they passed) so I didn't check them again. I needed the ide=nodma
to get the install to actually read the disk that it had just read to boot.
