If you are new to the DocsProject, or new to DocBook, this is a
relatively easy place to get started.
This is the hopefully-easy-to-understand, non-comprehensive, and
relatively compact version of the Install Guide for mere mortals.
A lot has changed with Fedora 13 - such as the fact that we aren't
shipping LiveCDs anymore, and have moved to LiveDVDs. This means a
lot of references in the document have changed. In addition it just
needs some general updating as there have been updates to Anaconda,
and thus the installation screens.
I've tried to break down the tasks into a few sections like questions
to research, (i.e. What's the minimum amount of RAM to install from a
LiveDVD), tasks to do (i.e. file a ticket with infra for getting
commit emails pushed to docs-commit-list) and then a list of the
chapters that need to be checked and updated.
If you are taking on a task/question/chapter please add your name to
the right of the item you are taking. When you are done add the

Fedora research survey worth taking

All,
As some of you may know, professors at the Fuqua School of Business at
Duke University have been conducting a study of Fedora, and have put
together an online survey based on interviews they conducted with
several dozen folks from the community.
You can access the survey here:

Their research goal is to focus more deeply on three primary themes
that emerged from over 20 interviews they conducted with participants
in the Fedora Project:
o Values that are relevant to participants (e.g., to what
extent is 'Open Source' a relevant value across the Fedora
Project?),
o Activities that participants engage in to help sustain the
community (e.g., to what extent is 'testing' a collaborative
activity across the Fedora Project?), and
o Tools participants use for communication or workflow (e.g.,
to what extent is 'Planet' or 'Koji' used across the Fedora
Project?).
The findings of this research will go a long way to helping us better
understand what makes the Fedora community tick. I think it is a
hallmark of our success as a community that academics are starting to
study in detail the ins-and-outs of how our community works.
Please respond as soon as possible. If you have any comments or

Publican 1.6.2 released

Just a quick heads-up that Publican 1.6.2 is making its way through the
Fedora updates system.
Amongst other things, this release fixes a number of bugs in how
Publican handles docs for localization -- please update your Publican
installation.

Fedora 13 draft Documentation

The Infrastructure folks have provided us with a spot for draft
documentation:

The release notes are being rebuild each night and placed there. As the
Guides start coming together they should also start appearing.
For the release notes, if the language didn't build, there is a log file
in that language's folder instead of the document. The LAST thing in
that file is the error that caused the build to fail. If the build
succeeded, you will see the document instead of just a log file.
If you had been looking at jjmcd.fedorapeople.org for the F13 release
notes, that points to the same place for release notes, but obviously it
won't for the Guides.
