	* Basic skills and experiences.   50 years in IT, many many years of technical writing
for operations, support and users. As well, a Fedora user since Core (2005) 

	* Why you're joining I noted that some of the English documentation was written with
slang, which made it difficult to translate to French or Spanish.  I am fluent in French,
write/read/speak, edit.  

	* What you're looking to do (be specific) Initially, I saw that the websites were
only partially translated to French, and this needs to be completed. The second reason,
the English to French translations were literal (using software translation), and this
results in the wrong words being presented.

	* How much time you can contribute (usually hours per week). Between 4 to 8 hours per
week. 

	* I can work on English documentation and translation of same or other to French.

It looks to me like you're highly skilled, and we could certainly use
your help with the tasks you suggested. While you can certainly revise
English documentation for easier translation as a member of the Docs
Project, if you actually want to pursue translation, you should join the
Localization Project too:

Of course, I'm obliged to recommend you hang out in the #fedora-docs
channel on irc.freenode.net, to suggest you go to weekly meetings, and
to suggest you contact this mailing list with any questions you might have.

I recommend you get started by choosing a task you think is interesting,
then trying to do it, and asking for help when you're not sure how to
continue. For translating and revising, of course, it's most important
to have excellent content. That means even if you do something useful
before you can submit it yourself, it's easy to submit later.

I think Christopher covered many of the important points.  To make it
official, you should subscribe to the list, apply to the FAS group[1],
and of course find something to work on.  The Guides Table [2], while
not especially reflective of the current status, should get you started.
Fedorahosted cgit[3] is the best way to find the correct repo link to
clone.  If you have questions, ask away!

As Christopher mentioned, translations are handled by the Localization
Project of Fedora. The French team seems very active, and I'm sure
you'll find good company there as well as with us.

And for sure, we have lots of work to achieve, would that be further
translations to achieve, proofreading documents & software UIs already
translated, etc.

And do not forget to subscribe to the trans-fr(a)fedoraproject.org
mailing-list, where everything is coordinated, and on Transifex where
we managed most of the major translations. Some others are as well on
Zanata (one or two guides, documentation for oVirt, and more smaller
projects).
