Looking for evtouch driver for Fedora 9
by axel lin
hi list,
I'm looking for evtouch driver for Fedora 9.
I have checked http://www.conan.de/touchscreen/evtouch.html.
Here is my questions bout using evtouch on Fedora 9:
1. Is there any rpm available for evtouch driver on Fedora 9.
2. I tried to use pre-built evtouch-0.8.7.tar.gz driver,
but I got version mis-match error (in /var/log/Xorg.0.log)
Then I try to compile the source code.
but I got below error when execute ./configure
checking for XORG... configure: error: Package requirements (xorg-server
xproto ) were not met:
No package 'xorg-server' found
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables XORG_CFLAGS
and XORG_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.
Which rpm is missing?
Below is the xorg packages installed in my system.

Anyone else have a T42 /w Fedora?
by gene horodecki
Hi there.. I'm posting because Fedora is not working properly on my T42. I
can't get the dual-head feature to work. I was wondering if anyone else
out there has a T42 with Fedora? Someone suggested trying to use 'xrandr'
to get dual head to work but all that did for me was hang Gnome.
I'm hoping I can get this to work because I so much prefer Fedora for
development but running single-head makes it undoable.

Wireless not working with FC9 on Dell XPS M1530
by John Preston
I have installed FC9 on a Dell XPS M1530 and am having problems with the
wireless connectivity which was working with FC8 on the same laptop. I get
the following from dmesg:
......
iwl3945: Detected Intel Wireless WiFi Link 3945ABG
iwl3945: Error: saturation power is -1, less than minimum expected 40
iwl3945: Invalid power index
iwl3945: initializing regulatory failed: -5
ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:0b:00.0 disabled
iwl3945: probe of 0000:0b:00.0 failed with error -5
......
Can anyone tell me what seems to be happening and if there is anything I can
do to fix it. Ocassionally I get it to work after restarting NetworkManager.
I'm right beside the wireless hub so it should not be signal strength.

dell inspiron 9400 - resume from suspend
by Jason Dwyer
hi all,
i have an inspiron 9400 with nvidia 7900gs video card.
just did a clean install of f9, plus all updates ( including hal stuff
today, which i hoped might fix things...), and still cant resume from
suspend.
pretty sure its video driver related ( alas, no viable nvidia binary
blobs available for the 1.5 xserver yet), as i recall similar issues in
fedora 7, and cant for the life of me remember if i fixed it or if
updates fixed it!
suspend kicks in just right, but resume brings up the relevant lights
for power, disk, bluetooth and wifi ( usb optical mouse lights up too),
but the display remains completely unlit.
i'm using the nv driver, tried the nouveau one for a couple of days, and
same net result ( although no mouse, wifi or bluetooth indicators come
up with nouveau.
anyone got any clues?
do i need to tweak the suspend/resume script ? any pointers where i
might find what needs a tickle?
thanks in advance

TravelMate 5720G and video card driver
by Marcello Fanti
Dear list members,
I recently bought an ACER TravelMate 5720G, on which I installed Fedora 8.
The laptop has a 1280x800 display resolution and an ATI Mobility Radeon
X2600 video card (according to ACER web site --- but probably it is the
same as ATI HD 2600 if I well understood)
Fedora 8 does not have a specific driver for such video card, therefore it
proposes a generic vesa driver, which does not handle 1280x800 resolution.
Therefore I downloaded and installed the ATI driver for HD 2600, from ATI
web site. Now the resolution is set correctly, but as a drawback the
motion of objects (like windows) on desktop is very slow and jumpy ---
awful effect, really!!
Did anybody experience similar problems? Does anybody has a solution to
suggest?
Many thanks to you all!
Cheers
Marcello

No sound (speakers nor headphones) on Toshiba Tecra A8-S8314 w/ FC9
by Mike Heffner
Hi,
I've installed the FC 9 x86 release from DVD onto a Toshiba Tecra
A8-S8314 laptop, but I can't seem to get sound to work through the
speakers nor the headphone jack on the front.
The sound card is an ALC262 chip using the snd-hda-intel driver. I've
followed the suggestions at:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=330763
(add: options snd-hda-intel model=hippo)
and:
http://goonanism.com/blog/2007/12/02/sound-on-a-toshiba-tecra-a8-with-ubu...
(add: options snd-hda-intel enable=1 index=0 model=basic)
However, neither of these approaches worked at getting sound out of
either the headphones or the speakers. I've also run alsaunmute and
alsamixer to unmute the various channels without any luck.
This is from dmesg with the hippo model:
ALSA sound/pci/hda/hda_intel.c:1810: chipset global capabilities = 0x4401

I've attached gzipped versions of both in full.
I have also tested with various permutations of "noapic" and "acpi=off"
given that there are of APIC error messages in dmesg:
APIC error on CPU0: 40(40)
APIC error on CPU1: 40(40)
Anyone have suggestions or hit similar problems? Willing to test various
workarounds and/or patches.
Cheers,
Mike
